Werner paddles are works of art. I received my Werner Skagit and am amazed at the degree of precision and quality this paddle is made to. It fits together and feels like it's one piece, the feather adjustments are smooth and accurate. It is feather light compared to my aluminum shaft paddle. I would give this paddle five stars, but have not had a chance to use it yet. I hope it gives me the same kind of power my aluminum shafted paddle yields.
This paddle is awesome! I had no complaints with my original paddle but also did not have anything to compare it to since it was my first one. We took a trip down the San Juan River and had to have an extra paddle for every three kayaks in our group. I thought I would splurge and buy a nicer paddle and use my original paddle as the spare. WOW! What a difference a quality paddle make. Much lighter - which really is not a big deal - but also much stronger and powerful. I was able to guide my kayak much easier and keep myself lined up in the rapids. The adjustable ferrule system is extremely beneficial. It provides equal power in strokes on both sides of the kayak making it much easier to keep the boat heading in a straight line. Lesson learned: A quality paddle makes all the difference in the world. Especially when you spend three straight days on the river.
