The Wilderness Systems Trolling Motor Mount is a universal mounting system that is designed to accommodate a variety of after-market trolling motors. Its compact size and tool-less adjustment pointsmake it easy to install on the stern SlideTrax rails of your Wilderness Systems kayak.
This is a good, solid mount. That it mounts to rails is even better and makes for not only a clean install, but an easily removable one as well. Why the 4 star rating instead of a 5 if it's such a good product? The simple answer is size. The mounting block is fine, and is about 6 3/4" in length. Where I feel it could be better is in the mounting shaft length, which is only 9" from where it mates with the block and the end. The longest distance between mounting holes is 5". This means you need rails that are no more than 5" apart to properly secure this mount to your yak. Now this isn't a huge deal, and I have some scrap metal on hand that I can use to lengthen the shaft, but I was slightly disappointed that the shaft wasn't longer from the start. Overall this is a solid buy, but take caution and understand that you may need additional materials (more rails, more metal, etc) to correctly adapt this mount to your boat. My plan is to use a piece of pre-slotted aluminum channel (that you can find at most of the big box supply stores) and attach through that and the mount onto the closest rail, then attach the mount at its end, and then secure the other end of the channel onto the opposite rail (rails are about 24" or so apart.)
