Great quality and price. Kayak is comfortable even for larger adults. It is very stable for boarding and exiting and tracks well in the water
Disappointed with workmanship of the boat exterior. Bubbles and rough surface . I bought same boat several years ago and it does not have these imperfections. Since I liked my boats quality and performance I bought this one as a mail order gift . Color should not be the difference so assume this is a quality change. I have never ordered anything like this online and only did having the same model , and the reviews of the boat remain high. I would however not mail order an item of this size again and do plan to look at another boat in store to see if it has same issues or if the price I got was a result of "seconds" . I do expect it to perform well . My boat is bright green and this boat review is blue ...in case it is a color issue and that helps anyone concerned about the look.
I have paddled both the Zydeco 9 and 11. The 9 has more responsive turning but is slower (as expected for a kayak 2 feet shorter). The 11 is easier to paddle and keep up with other boats. The seat is comfortable. Both sizes track well when paddling. They did tend to turn with the current when I stopped paddling. This is expected from a kayak that doesn't have a skeg and also shows that it will turn well when you want/need it. The Zydeco has a lower profile than the Axis and doesn't get caught by the wind. I didn't notice any issues with it being thin but I wasn't going over any low rocks. I enjoy paddling this kayak and will let friends paddle my Axis and Blackwater on flat to class 1 water. I will still pick the Axis or Blackwater 10.5 for class 2 -3.
