The new Perception Prodigy XS is a welcome addition to the Prodigy family of kayaks. This modest sized, light-weight, recreational boat makes it the perfect choice for smaller paddlers seeking feature rich options at an affordable price. With a focus on comfort, the Prodigy XS incorporates the Zone EXP back band with a Zone seat pad designed specifically for this boat. Other features include Zone Knee Pads for even more comfort and added control, and bow deck bungee to keep important items secure and close at hand. Smaller sized paddlers will also appreciate the lowered deck for improved visibility and the compact size hull that isn't too wide to comfortably manage while paddling.

I purchased two of the Perception Prodigy XS kayaks for my grandchildren, ages 8 and 7. Once in the water, they took to them almost instinctively. The boys have had a real fun time using them several times now, since first being used. They handle well, are not big & bulky, and weigh the perfect amount for small children to maneuver around with - both in and out of the water. Overall, I would say these kayaks were a sound buy for the my initial reason regarding the "introduction of" kayaking to kids.
My 11year old daughter LOVES this kayak. It's light enough for her to carry and a great fit. (She is tall for her age, about 5 feet.) It doesn't t track as well as longer boats or boats with skegs but that's to be expected.
