Job Description

Award winning continues to grow and we are looking for a PHP/JavaScript Developer to join our tribe. We are a small and nimble company, everyone does everything and we don't have lots of meetings to pontificate on the next best thing.

You will help maintain, build, architect, rebuild, implement a world-class ecommerce site for a fast-growing, leading Outdoor Retailer as well as our warehouse management/optimization system. This isn't for the faint of heart, you must love cutting edge technology, be able to adapt fast and geek out on the latest blogs and newest tricks for the web.

You will be actively participating in project planning. You'll be expected to write clean, readable, well-organized and documented code that meets the provided requirements and rapidly solve problems.

Projects will include website development, integration with NetSuite, integration with Demandware (SalesForce Commerce Cloud), Warehouse/Order Management software and many others, all custom in-house grown and supported so you get to build and not just implement someone else's code.

Key Skills

The duties of this position are to provide effective direction, leadership, and day-to-day management of the Summit Sports’ growing family of eCommerce web sites - specifically those associated with Austin Canoe and Kayak (

Duties and responsibilities

The primary duties & responsibilities of this position are as follows:

  • Strategic Site Development – Leads effective planning and development processes to ensure Summit Sports’ ecommerce retail web and mobile sites are not only productive towards product sales conversion, but also strong representations of “Expert” (the cornerstone of our specialty sport business brand essence) through content, videos, buying guides, and customer forums.
  • Roadmap Development for Usability & Conversion Optimization – Leads a cross-functional “E-store Development Team”, charged with ideating continuous improvement concepts to web site features, functionality, and design, to enhance site usability and product sales conversion rates. This responsibility includes:
  • Roadmap Development Planning – Documentation and prioritization of development concepts.
  • Wireframe Design Management – Working with internal Creative Services partners to develop effective wireframe and layout designs
  • A/B Testing – Leveraging Monetate software to plan, test, and report results of site development testing.
  • Site Analytics – Develops industry-best-practice KPI and P&L reporting of site performance, combined with effective analysis of those reports to leverage data insights to drive improved business performance.
  • Event Planning & Integration – Serves as a key member of ACKs’ Event Planning strategy to develop monthly product, brand and promotional events for on-site events. Leads integration activities of those events to ensure effective placement and presentation within home page, category pages, etc.
  • Team Development – Provides consistent and effective leadership and mentorship to advance the skills, coordination and overall effectiveness of cross-functional teams, including Web Marketing, Creative Services and Technology.

Austin Canoe & Kayak (ACK) is seeking a Key Holder to assist with day-to-day activities in our Austin, TX store. If you have a passion for the outdoors, and enjoy working in a high energy retail environment this could be the perfect job for you!

This position REQUIRES a person that enjoys people and selling outdoor products in a low-pressure sales environment. Daily tasks include being the manager-on-duty, assisting customers in store and over the phone, as well as picking/packing/shipping Internet orders as needed, maintaining inventory, and general store upkeep. Learning and performing kayak repair and installs is another requirement of the position.
