Spring has sprung, and our KATS season is moving along full steam! We are already more than halfway through our season here in Texas, and with the weather heating up, we’re ready for our mid season break.
It’s been a great season so far! Our first event this year on Lake Somerville saw 166 anglers on the water, breaking the KATS attendance record. We saw many familiar faces, as well as a surprising number of people fishing their first KATS event ever.
Since then, we’ve had four more stops along the way in Lake Fayette, Coleto Creek, Decker Lake and Lake Livingston. A common thread between all these events has been unpredictable weather (no surprise in Texas). This year has brought wind, rain, more wind, and thunderstorms, but the conditions haven’t held our KATS anglers back.
They have embraced the weather at each event and brought home some stringers; the biggest bass so far this year came in at 23.75” from Mr. Michael Hanson. (You can check out the current full KATS leaderboard here.)
We’re gearing up for our KATS Saltwater event in Aransas Pass come July. Anglers will compete inshore on the Texas Coast on the hunt for redfish, July 22nd, 2017.
As of now, we only have one regular season event left to fish before the championship this fall. We will be out on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas on June 10th. The championship will include the top 25 anglers from the regular season and put them to the test over a two-day tournament.
