Ah yes, “2013, the year of new adventure”. If you came across our home page or any one of our social media networks on New Year’s Day, you may have noticed that same message but what exactly does that mean? To be honest, it is more personal than a tacky marketing message but I think it’s relevant to the nature of ACK and what we stand for and where we are going tomorrow — I am taking it to heart and hope you will too.

Looking back over the years, I find that I always partake in the same ‘ol adventures but in reality they are hardly even that because I know what to expect around each bend of the river I am paddling, trail I am hiking or waters I am fishing. So this year, I decided to take a different approach which is to simply try something new — do what I’ve never done before and become independent of the known or expected.

It’s not so much about going to the extreme but rather more about exploring new areas that are within reach and trying new things through the process of reaching those adventurous goals. You can call it a new years resolution but I consider it a change of lifestyle, one that will enhance my passion for the great outdoors and to some extent, my life.

I imagine many of you already stand by such a philosophy but for those that don’t I invite you to join me. Through the process I will be sharing my experiences with you here on our blog and I invite you to do the same.

On behalf of the entire ACK family, I want to wish each and everyone of you an amazing year, one that will not only provide you with health and happiness but also with new adventure. We look forward to serving you in 2013.
