It's pure genious, plain and simple. I went from a pickup truck to a
SUV and needed an option for my Hobie Revo. It's not pickup easy
but is the next best thing. The install ws pretty straight forward
and I found it to be a solid set up. To be honest the first time or
two I had trouble closing the rack while loaded. You need to lift with
the handles squeezed and with the proper angle. Learning curve.
Lashing the yak at the side of the vehicle on the rack is simple too.
The yak sits nicely and stable at highwsy speeds. It comes with 4
tie downs too. A question I had was how easy it was to take off the
rack...piece of cake, 20 seconds or less. I stow it while on the
water. It is pricey, and the bar is extra, $$$, but it's solid, works as
advertised. No regrets, but I miss my little pick em up.

It does what it claims to do: assist with raising a heavy or bulky boat
onto the roof rack. The installation is straight forward on either round
or square racks. The hydraulic assist arms can be removed and stored
in the vehicle if desired; the locking system as for all roof rack devices
is not very strong. I use it for kayaks and rowing sculls.

We love the Thule 898 Hullavator Pro Lift Assist. It is all that we had
expected and hoped for from the description. Installation was not
trivial, but nor was it a challenge. Loading our two sea kayaks on a
Tahoe has become a breeze. This has been very valuable for us as
neither of us is tall, and we are in the prime of our lives (read 60+).
