Q:
I wonder if the Stohlquist Canyon PFD is big and bulky, and more uncomfortable and restrictive than a PFD with a normal amount of flotation. Also, the description and specs say it is for whitewater and other things which I don't understand. I would use it fishing from a Hobie Outback sit on top with the wonderful new seat, and I would also use it in a Sea kayak. Is the PFD back flotation panel high enough to clear my Hobie seat? Would i have a lot of freedom of movement to fish for hours at a time?

For a more low-profile jacket, you might want to check out the NRS Ninja PFD Life Jacket, or the Astral V-Eight Life Jacket. The Ninja is shorter on your torso, but still bulky. The V-Eight is slim, comfortable and more suitable for the kayaking you will be doing. You might also consider inflatable jackets. They are light, comfortable and only bulky when you activate them!
