These inflatable cushions are great with the original Hobie Island cloth seats. Keeps you higher & dryer, and they are comfortable. They do, after a couple years, develop pin hole leaks in the creases. It may be best to leave them inflated when stored.
Excellent customer service !!!! Seat came with a hole it it from shipping , made a call to ACK and a few days later received a new one Easy install and comfortable
I ordered the Hobie Inflatable Seat Pad because my aging six o'clock no longer has enough padding on it to keep from going numb after a couple of hours when yak fishing. The Hobie inflatable seat pad put a stop to that discomfort. Fully inflate it and then keep letting enough air out until your buttocks does not bottom out on your yak. That way you don't screw up the seating geometry. You will like this air pad. You will also like the superb customer service from ACK . . none better anywhere.
Great product! Easy to install and very comfortable, even on the long trips......
no ifs, and or butts about it! this seat is terrific! much more comfortable rthan the stock seat alone it`s understood but there are no instructions noting that the inflate valve twists open for inflation and then closes to hold the air I recommend deflating after use and don`t overinflate peddle/paddle on!!
The seat pad was a Christmas gift for my husband. He seems very happy with it. The service was great and the pad was exactly what my husband asked for.
This made all the difference... after 2 hours of sitting in the kayak, this cushion made it enjoyable, whereas before it was uncomfortable.
The pad helps but it doesn't solve all of the problems with the Hobie Mirage seat because it doesn't give you any additional padding over the webbing with the pegs that hold the seat in place. I've always considered the Hobie Mirage well designed except for the seat. Basically it has no comfortable position because of the way it fits into the "scooped out" seat area. It forces your bottom to slide down and back on the webbing that the pegs are attached to. This feels like you are sitting in a hard trench. The second problem is the pressure that it puts on the back of your legs between the hips and the knees, where the scoop angles up to the middle of the kayak. This cuts off circulation in the back of your legs. An improved pad design would be a wedge that is at least 4 inches thick at the back of the pad, then tapers to 1 to 2 inches thick at the front of the pad. Instead of attaching to the seat by a flap like the existing pad, add 2 Velcro straps to the top and bottom of the back side of the pad that are long enough to wrap around to seat back to hold the pad in place. This would be a simple design that could be quickly attached to the seat and you would still be able to reach under it to line up the seat pegs to the holes in the kayak. Attaching it to the back of the seat rather than the web and peg part would put padding over the web and pegs. Hobie still has work to do to improve the seat and/or pad.
Spent about 12 to 16 hours in that seat over 3 days in SW Florida bay fishing. Made a huge difference.
very nice product. Self-inflates to perfect thickness, or you can inflate more if desired. Velcro's securely to the Hobie seat. Appears sturdy enough to last awhile. Really makes a difference in butt comfort.
Expensive, but worth it. Before buying this, I tried a 20 dollar inflatable thermarest pad. That only lasted a couple of trips before it started leaking. This Hobie pad is far more rugged and I'm confident it will last a long time (6 trips so far).
Like David, I suffer from a lack of natural padding. This cushion dramatically extends my fishing time. Unfortunately, the cushion has begun leaking where the valve is sealed into the air bag rendering it useless. Have only used it about 20 times.
First impression, literally, is that it works very well. If it (we have 2) holds up long term, it will be a great buy. 4 stars until durability is confirmed.
I have a pretty bony posterior and long periods of sitting can get really uncomfortable. The i Comfort seat lets me fish comfortably for hours.
This is a good product for use around salt water because it is completely rinsable. Only 4 stars because the original seat is just as comfortable. Bottom line - good waterproof seat, but no increase in comfort over original seat.
MADE THE OUTBACK SEAT MUCH MORE USER FRIENDLY
This item came as described, and fits in with the seat.
Great item. My wife loves the seat pad.
I find that the seat fits perfectly in my Hobie, but most of the cushing (because it's air) gets pushed under my legs where there is least resistance and not under my bottom where it's needed.
Another must have - your bottom WILL thank you.Pricey but you won't complain once you have used one. I have tried others but they fall short.
I have a stock 08 or 09 seat, so I was looking forward to the upgraded seat cushion after reading the reviews. Im happy with the seat, but its not quite as plush or stress relieving as I thought it would be. Still makes a difference, but not a huge one.
I usually spend five to six hours out on the water at a time and this seat pad is terrific. You can take off the original seat pad and put this one in its place or do like I did and just add it on top of the original seat.
It works-going to get another one for wife.
Forgot to mention in initial review-one negative point. The holes punched in this seat are too small for the latest Hobie seat pegs to fit through. Also, the center of the holes are spaced closer together than the pegs on newer kayaks. Yes, I know you can place this on top the regular seat and secure it with the velcro strip that covers the seat pegs, but this is not the way this pad was designed to be used. I used a hole punch to increase the hole diameter and spacing, but this shouldnt be necessary on a new Hobie accessory for a new Hobie boat.
Essential Ass-ential, perhaps? add-on. The seat pad changes the entire experience from annoying to comfortable.
If you have a Hobie mirage kayak and spend more then 30 minutes in it, theses seats are a must. The amount of cushion is adjustable and they just Velcro to the standard seat. Much, much more comfortable sitting in the kayak for extended periods of times
Just the ticket for those long trips. Fits well with my existing 2011 seat. Somewhat expensive but your fanny will appreciate it.
Looks like just the ticket for those long days out on the kayak ACK had the best prices and really fast shipping.
ACK had the best price and great service again. I bought one for myself to try it out and then had to order another for the wife. So far we've only used it a couple times and I left the original seat in place and put the inflatable on top and secured it with the velcro.
Wife and I like the I Comfort seat pad. Don't blow it up, less air is better than more! But that's the beauty of it, you can adjust it to your preference.
We got this for my wife, and she loves it. I would have given it a 5 rating, but again Hobie people have that negative gamesmanship here. We ordered the new pegs to replace the cheap non working factory pegs. After a very long time getting the new holes in the seat to fit the pegs, I discovered with the comfort seat, the new pegs are not long enough to fit through the seat and the comfort seat. We found that if we really fit the seat in correctly and tightly, for some reason the old pegs work. Our last trip lasted over 2 hours, and my wife's complaints re a sore butt with the plain jane seat didn't appear after 2 hours of basic non stop pedaling.
Spend six hours in choppy seas with the self inflating i-Comfort pad and your butt will thank you. Most valuable kayak accessory I own.
Excellent. Out fishing all day and no sore bum. Worth it.
the Mirage Inflatable Seat Pad - i Comfort is a good addition. This seat can go on top or below. PS get the compression plugs too, seat will not move.
Another great product from Hobie! I was skeptical about his one as I had not seen it in person...however,it is worth the money. I attached mine under the existing seat for added comfort. It works great and is easy to adjust. Now Hobie needs to come out with a back cushion to match. As always, Austin Kayak was quick to ship and a pleasure to buy from.
Dude... your butt will thank you for it!
Wow! received i-comfort seat in three days from Austinkayak.com after ordering. Local Hobie dealer had no clue about the i-comfort seat. Really great product, what comfort. Actually opened up mirage seat at velcro end removed original foam, and made opening at front of seat for air valve. Inserted i-comfort seat restitched velcro, and put back together. Wow! just can't believe the comfort. Hobie should make a factory seat like this as an upgrade.
Very adjustable. Keeps my bum comfy. Regular Mirage seat has velcro attachment there to accept this accessory.
To purchase a new seat with this much padding would cost close to $200. When fishing for long periods this pad is a must. Simple to attach and use.
this really helped. i kayaked off and on all day 3 hours the longest and it was almost like 10 mins i'm glad i got this item i never rate anything 4 star unless its really something new on mkt.
I normally yak between 6-10 hrs on fishing trips. People who yak this long, need relief. I purchased the Seat Pad and all I can say is /win. It was easy to replace the stock pad with the inflatable. Definitely worth the money in my opinion... thx Hobie!
After a couple of hours of sea kayaking my butt would hurt and my left leg would go to sleep. The comfort seat changed everything. Now I feel like I'm sitting in an easy chair and I don't even have to inflate it. Just the padding alone is sufficient, when directly attached by the existing two bolts under the original Hobie seat. It works!
Still too early in this neck of the woods for kayaking, as the lake is all ice. However, after getting the I-comfort I immediately tried it out in a hard chair and felt pretty cushy and nice. So for now it gets my vote and 5 stars. Can't wait to try it out in the kayak.
This did the trick. I can now paddle and peddle without my butt getting sore.
The original seat that came with my Revolution is a good one but my bony old butt starts hurting after about two hours on the water. I had planned to get a gel cushion until I saw this seat in the Hobie parts catalog so I ordered one. I have been out up to six hours with the iComfort seat now with no discomfort at all! Great accessory for a great boat! Someone should make one for my less fortunate paddling friends who don't have Hobies so they will stop whining!
I spend a lot of time on my Outback and this seat addition is a life-saver. I'm now able to stay out on the water much longer with the added support and comfort. A bit pricey but almost a necessity considering the stock seat.
Great item. No longer need a support in the small of my back for long trips. Pricey as are all of Hobie accessories but this on is worth it. Most Hobie retailers didn't know anything about this item but Austin had it in stock. Impressive!
MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF ORDERED THE I=COMFORT SEAT AND REC'D IT IN 3 DAYS. WE REMOVED THE ORGINAL SEAT, PUT THE NEW ONE ON THE VELCRO THEN PUT THE OLD SEAT ON TOP, REPLACED THE SCREWS AND ARE USING BOTH OF THE SEATS AS ONE.THE I-COMFORT IS ON THE BOTTM WITH THE PAD SEAT ON TOP. HAVE USED IT FOR 3 TRIPS. 5 HOURS EACH. MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE AND WORTH THE MONEY.IF YOU DO GET TIRED OF SITING YOU CAN LET OUT A LITTLE AIR AND GET A CHANGE
