The c-tug works great bought it to pull my feelfree lure 11.5 around with and no matter how rough the terrain is as long as it is cinched down tight the kayak will stay right were you put it.making it an easy trip to and from your vehicle!!
It's great - in theory - but it tends to slip off the back of the boat
Seems to be fairly solid, rolls easily.Assembles easily. My only concern is that the stand is not very solid.
Breaks down nicely. Easy to assemble. Stable while transporting my Big Rig.
A must have for a fishing kayak. I use this cart to easily load and unload my Jackson Cuda HD by myself sometimes multiple times a week. Was easy to assemble and easy to use. Money well spent.
Very handy for the heavier fishing kayaks
The cart is sturdy , and easy to assemble. The jack is a little weak. But will do the job.
So far so good. Have only used once to pull a kayak down to the lake. Made it down the steps leading to the dock with ease, no shifting of the kayak. Cart was easy to put together, it took less than 5 minutes, the pieces go together easily. I was prepared to struggle with the straps based on other online reviews but if you use the pictures provided in the instructions it is a breeze. The straps took about 5 minutes, the only issue was getting the length correct, had to adjust a couple of times to get it right.
The build quality was better than I expected. The strap and latch secure the kayak tightly without any slippage while moving over less than ideal trails. Also love how it breaks down into individual pieces for easy access and storage to kayak hull. Overall very happy with purchase.
If you are looking for the C-Tug with SOFT wheels, this is NOT the right one. I made that mistake. The wheels on this one are hard. With that being said, it works great. Sometimes it's a little difficult getting it set up on my fully set up Vibe Maverick but It's not too bad. I wish the kick stand did more. It's not very helpful in my experience. 5 stars though because I made the mistake, and it does work great.
Awesome cart exactly what I needed
Exceeded my expectations, which were high to begin with. Incredibly easy to assemble and disassemble. (Though must watch video for details on installing strap the first time.) Love a well-thought out product. Used on my 125lb Jackson Big Rig. The bow becomes light as a feather.
This cart is the monster truck of kayak carts. Very durable and the wheels can run through some serious terrain. Easy to put together and pull apart. I would advise on watching YouTube videos on putting the straps and buckles together. That was the only confusing part for me. The buckle belt is solid metal or aluminum is tight when strapped on properly. I’m thinking about talking this off and replacing it with ratchet straps. It will make it easier to tie it down super tight so it can’t jiggle at all during tow. Overall love it and recommend it.
Awesome gear that performs as advertized!!
The C-Tug is high quality. But it does not fit the hull of my Jackson Tripper-T, I'm going to have to engineer something to make it fit better. I shouldn't have to do that.
Awesome cart. Very simple but works very well. Easy to use, rolls very easily, does not move or come loose from kayak, is adjustable for different hull shapes. A definite upgrade from my previous carts which had multiple straps and hooks but always slipped out from under the kayak. The big wheels are nice, easy to push or pull, loading is super easy.
Awesome heavy duty kayak cart. I got the new cam lock strap, but the cart is still sliding off my kayak when it hits a bump. Going to try a couple more times before I reach out to customer service.
Works better than expected. Easy and quick to take apart. Fits is my Wilderness radar 13.5 fron hatch which is on shallow side. Had to add pool noodles to fit pontoon style bottom
My C-tug Arrived quickly and exceeded my expectations. This thing is much more durable and of higher quality then you can tell from pictures. ACK continues to be my go to supplier for my kayak needs.
Very solid, stable kayak cart. The design and straps help the cart stay on the kayak even when having to lift one end or the other to go up steps or obstacles. Recommended!
seems to work great well built, a little bigger than what i expected. but i think that is a good thing. should break down and fit in front of kayak (kaku wahoo 12). straps on easily and stays well.
Because of all the snow here I haven't had a chance to use but if it's like all my other products I've purchases from ACK I know will be a 5 star purchase.
This is a tough & rugged kayak cart. Works great with my Old Town Predator PDL Kayak. I did choose to make one modification to it. I added (slipped over), on each strap, about a 10-inch piece of intertube (heavier rubber) to allow the straps to better hold in place. Especially, when I am pulling it up & down hills, or over rough terrain.
Was looking for a kayak cart that I could break down and fit inside my kayak this one is the best one I found. I like how easy it is to take down and put together, and the price was right at Austin canoe and kayak.
Best purchase for my NuCanoe Frontier since my trolling motor. Works great!!! Only issue is the kickstand. When mounting the kayak on the cart. Banging the cart in any way will sometimes knock it over. I had to tighten the screw just a bit. And my cart was delivered quickly. ACK is great about getting your product to you quickly.
Very happy with my C-Tug cart. It makes getting my predator 13 to the water a breeze. I found I can leave the cart on when I launch and once in deeper water unstrap it and throw it in the back of yak.
Really like this kayak cart. Use it to pull my Hobie Oasis - 120 lbs plus fully loaded and 14.5 feet long. You just strap it on the yak and go. Look at the assembly instructions on the AKC web site to assemble the kayak. Beats reading the directions. Easy to assemble, and the whole cart breaks down to store in one of the storage yaks compartments. Highly recommend.
This thing is great. Everything it says it can do, it does. Easy assembly and take down. Stores on my yak. I have built three different PVC versions and compared to the C-Tug they are worthless.
Having to deal with gravel parking lot to get to a boat ramp, and another gravel parking area at a different launch point, the C-tug has proven invaluable. Placing the C-tug at mid-point on my Feel Free Lure 11.5 reduces the 74 lb weight of the kayak to zero. I can actually use one finger to pull it on flat concrete/asphalt areas. Completely breaks-down for storage in the front hatch. Well- designed, and highly recommended.
Very happy with the C-Tug Kayak cart. I use it to park about 100 yards from the water, and roll down my Advanced Elements inflatable kayak down to the boat ramp. It rolls easily on the cement rigid boat ramp. I watched a you tube video a few times to get the straps installed right. The straps are a little to long for my kayak, but hold well on an inflatable kayak with a textured surface.
I ordered the C-Tug Cart at the same time I ordered my Old Town Predator PDL Kayak, not knowing if it would be a good match or not. Once it arrived and I opened the carton I wasn't very impressed and thought I got burned for the higher priced cart. But, once I snapped it together (instructions are rather primitive) and got the straps adjusted, it looked as though it might work just fine. It doesn't fit the hull as well as I'd like, but once it is synced down it transports the kayak well. It does have an inherent wheel squeak. But, who cares, I'm going fishing not deer hunting!
High cost, but works great. Easy to assemble/disassemble and to mount. Tighten the straps and the cart stays in place. Highly recommend.
Perfect for our Kayak. Easy to put together after watching the video. Transporting our kayak from our Suv to the water was so much easier with the C - tug cart. Worked very well!
Bought the C-Tug last fall to go with my Ocean Kayak Prowler BG Angler II Kayak. Just returned from a 6 night trip on the AuSable River in Michigan where I had to portage over six dams over 120 miles. Every time I had to load the kayak onto the cart, strap it down, and pull it down a gravel road to the put in on the other side of the dams. I must admit, my greatest fear was that this cart would fail, or that one of the wheels would shatter. If it did, my trip would have become a nightmare trying to portage. My kayak weighs 100+ lbs, and with my loaded cooler and all of my gear, it was probably around 250 lbs all together. The cart did its job superbly and held together well. Once strapped down, everything held tight. The biggest problem is lifting and centering the kayak onto the cart without the cart kickstand falling over along with the cart. The loose kickstand would cause the cart to topple over with any bump as your are trying to load a heavy kayak. Loading took some practice to get it right for my particular kayak, which would be expected. If the cart is balanced well under the kayak, the pulling load is easier. So there are a few tricks to learn to make the most of it. I do not break the cart down on my trips. It fits well between my rudder and the cooler using a bungee to hold it down.
I'm giving this cart a five star because I can't go 4.5. I absolutely love the way that it handles my predator 13. The -.5 would be because the kickstand snapped the first time that I used it. I chalk it up to 95% user error, but it it were made out of a different material of had a different design it wouldn't have happened. Bottom line, I love this cart and would definitely purchase again, just make sure that the kick stand is all of the way up before moving your boat.
This to me is a product the others should aspire to. Simple design. Rugged. Easy to use. Breaks down to be stored on the kayak. For years of service all: after each use take it apart and rinse with clean water. Can't ask for more!
Bought this cart for my predator 13 and it works flawlessly. I love how easy and quick it is to tear down and store in the hatch.
I used it already. Straps are terrible, but everything else is great. It breaks down and stows nicely. I probably will get another but will trash the straps and make my own ones up
Use the c-tug to move around my Jackson BigRig. So far, I have only used it on smooth ground but it has worked well. Straight forward to attach to boat.
Love that this can be broken down and stored in the hatch of the Kayak. Easy assembly right out of the box. Can't wait till spring to use it.
Wonderful upgrade from cabelas model which was clunky and you had to connect your own straps every time you went out which although I got good at was still very inefficient because I was taking the straps off my trailer and putting them on the cart and vice Versa. This also risked with the old cart I was using losing the straps which could have been catastrophic since I load my cart on the back of the chupacabra. In regard to the fit with the Diablo chupacabra it's simply perfect. No issues with it lining up or rolling out. The way the holding / landing pads open up it adapts to your hull. The no air tires are also less bulky and lower maintenance. Good gear costs more for a reason most of the time, because it's better. It's cheaper to buy right the first time than make a mistake and have to replace. Buy this cart
Product works very nice, easy to assemble and use!
Great product. Exactly as advertised for ease of assembly, handling my yak over uneven terrain and great durability. Fantastic product for the price.
C-Tug works very well with Native Water Craft FX-12. Breaks down easily so I can store it in the nose of the yak. Strap/clamp system works very well.
I recently bought a new boat with which my old cart was completely incompatible. After shopping around and reading the reviews, I decided to give the C-Tug a try. I'll admit I was skeptical of sit-on-top carts. I've owned a couple and there were always a pain. I've had the opportunity to use the C-Tug a couple of times now and so far I am impressed. The boat stays put on the cart and the cart pulls well. The assembly instructions could be a little clearer but with a little experimentation, it went to together easily. I would recommend this cart to other kayakers.
C tug kayak cart this thing is nothing short of amazing I am very pleased highly recommend it to anyone.
I've used this cart several times now. Bottom line, I'm not impressed. The straps that hold the kayak to the cart fall off all the time. Especially on uneven terrain, it is impossible to pull my kayak. If I try to pull it up or down a hill, the cart falls off every ten feet. I am forced to push the kayak up hill, which is a lot harder then pulling it. Please note: I followed the video instructions to the letter, so it's not that I assembled the product incorrectly. When I fasten it tightly and pull it on a concrete surface, the rack works just fine.
Pretty good cart, I needed a cart for my Wildy Ride 135. The problem is the hull of the kayak doesn't fit well on the ctug, nothing zip ties and an extra large foam noodle couldn't fix. Cart works as described, very easy to take apart and store in hatch and very well made. The hardest part is loading your kayak onto the cart when your kayak is fully loaded at the boat launch. The ctug's wheels and kickstand help it stay in place on an incline, many other carts do not.
Works well. Easy to assemble/disassemble, fits through the hatches of both of my kayaks, runs decent on or off road, even jumped a few curbs with it. Would purchase again.
C tug works good. I wish the video and details on how to put it together we're more explanatory. It's so simple to do but I made it hard!
Item arrived timely and is as described. A bit of a hassle with assembly instructions for the straps, but it all worked out. My only complaint is that the straps are slightly short for my kayak and I had to get other straps in order to strap the kayak on properly. I am happy with the purchase and would recommend this product -with longer straps.
Absolutely great! Easy to assemble and disassemble. Light weight and fits in the hatch of my Feel free kayak.
I have had a few different carts including one that rusted pretty fast. This one from what I have seen so far is made way better then the others I have owned and it won't rust which is a big plus. I actually use it for a hobie pro angler by adding PVC to it and it works perfect. This cart is heavy duty and made to last.
This cart is great. Super fast setup, but the straps can be a bit confusing to setup so watch a YouTube video. It also comes apart very fast and can be stored inside most kayaks. Great product I expect to get years of use out of. Best part...it is really no more expensive than standard cart but is a much better design!
I don't use my tug very often, but when I do, it does the job very well. It tracks well and fits into the front compartment of my Feelfree Lure 11.5. I didn't want to lose the back storage with a scupper Mount.
Love this thing, superior to any of the other carts I've tried. The ability to shove it in a bulkhead and go was a major selling point to me. Watch those fingers those, the first time I put it together I smashed my fingers pretty good. Also, when shopping this, it looked in all the pictures like the wheels were plastic, was quite delighted when I discovered they were rubber. Maybe I just didn't read the desc well enough.
Not likeing it! On the one hand its sturdier than it looks. On the other hand, the kickstand doesn't work (too flimsy), unable to keep it tight enough against the yak and it flops forward, if the straps get wet the buckle pops open. Honestly, I wish I had built my own cart instead of spending $139 on this.
Great cart for my Slayer propel 13, other carts havent worked so well with the hull shape and rudder. this cart stays secure in rough terain.
Save yourself the hassle. The c tug has got to be the worst cart there is. The kickstand always loosens no matter how many times I tighten it. And if you are not willing to push the c tug will slide out the back while pulling..this product is JUNK DO NOT BUY A C TUG
i have used this several times. have not had any problems with it.. i put it on while the slayer 10 propel is in the water and then pull it out with out any trouble.. i am really glad i got it.. would recommend this to any body looking for a cart.. it breaks down and goes together quickly.. you do need to watch the videos on how to put the straps together, after that it is really easy to use. and it is very secured, yak does not shift around..
the slayer propel 10 was a little to wide for me to grab across the top to carry. and carrying it side ways was awkward.. I watch a lot of the vids on the ACK web site, you tube links and choose this as my carrier. it works great. over tree ruts , bumpy ground.. the kayak did not come loose at all.. I did have to watch the instruction vid on how to put the strap system together,, not hard , but it would have taken a lot longer to figure it out, and then it may not have preformed as well.. the last segment of the video made all the difference.. easy to put together and it stores in the hull.. nice , very nice.. thank you ACK for your links and videos that you have on the products that you carry.. now off to the fish finder section .. I have spent many ,many hours on your site putting my shopping list together , along with the ideas that I have gotten from your site, and the reviews..
The C-Tug is a good / fair cart for the Native Propel 13 kayak. What I want in a cart - easy to setup, breakdown, use and be able to handle my fully loaded Propel 13 in the MIDDLE so I have a balance point and not have to lift too much weight. Easy to set up - takes about 30 seconds (once you have the straps rigged initially), breakdown is even faster. Wheels and pads / straps will fit in the front compartment of the Propel 13. I do NOT break the two-piece frame down as it releases the kickstand and I don't want that small part to be lost. The two-piece frame goes into the rear compartment. The kickstand MUST be tightened upon arrival - if not, it WILL fall over. I tightened my about 1/4 - 1/2 turn and it works fine. Straps will NOT hold my Propel 13 in the center of the kayak. Two reasons, the first being that the pads will only contact a small area of the hull of the Propel in the middle - they will not rotate to get more contact area. You cannot 'reverse' the pads on the carrier to get more contact area because then the straps positioned incorrectly. If you move the C-Tug farther to the forward, or rear of the yak, you will have more luck using the C-Tug BUT you'll be lifting more weight. The C-Tug in the center of a loaded Propel 13 will not last long because of insufficient contact area. The second issue is that the straps are hard to get really tight because it's a simply 'pull and press down' locking assembly. I have incorporated a ratchet latch on my C-Tug straps and it did not work when the cart was in the mid-position of my Propel 13 (loaded). Unloaded, it works fine, but the extra weight of the cooler and the propulsion unit causes the C-Tug to twist out from under the yak and it will fall off to the side. It's embarassing and a bear to get back on with a loaded yak. For short trips with a loaded yak, the C-Tug is good for the Propel 13 if you want to lift the weight. For longer trips with a loaded Propel 13, you'll need to move it forward or aft to get a better seating surface and grip. If its dry, the straps MAY hold on (I installed them in accordance with the instructions using the upgraded C-Tug strap retainers), but if the tug / straps / yak are wet - you'll probably have some slipping if you are mounting a Propel 13. Recommended upgrades for the C-Tug 1. List yaks it works with (not very well with the Propel 13) 2. Put a ratcheting latch / strap tightener assembly of some sort. The Propel 13 is not a good candidate for this cart. 3. Use a softer rubber mounting surface on the C-Tug pads - the hard plastic slips too easily. I'm going to try putting soft rubber insulation on the pads in the hopes it will grip better. This would help ALL kayaks using the C-Tug 4. Consider a larger degree of rotation on the contact pads of the C- Tug to be able to incorporate 'twin-V' or 'semi-catamaran' style hulls for the C-Tug. This will necessitate a change in the strap arrangment but I have several ideas about that. In summary - it's a 5-star tug / cart for most yaks, it's a 3-star tug for the Propel 13 and that's after modifications to the straps. It will work on a large fishing kayak (300-pound capacity - I think fishing kayaks were considered), but needs improvement to be able to truly take weight off the kayak handler and put it on the cart where it belongs.
Don't waste your time money and effort trying to reinvent a kayak cart like I did, just buy one of these and be done with it. This cart works great!
Ok, I read many of the reviews of how great this was, and how easily the C-Tug hauled kayaks. I was immediately taken in by watching the videos on how well it worked, and how easy it looked to pull kayaks on all kinds of different terrain. Without seeing it on action with my own eyes, I bit the bullet and bought it. I anxiously waited for it to arrive, and quickly snapped it together to try out. I left the straps that came with it in the garage, and used the Yakima cinch strap that I use for my car. It worked well, and I was able to haul it to the lake easily. It handled stairs, a rooted section and sand well, and never made me worry about the kayak coming off. The C-Tug never moved down or slipped off the kayak on my 3/4 mile trek. Once at the lake, it disassembled easily and stored quickly in the front section of my Tarpon kayak. I went for a two hour cruise, and came back to shore and quickly assembled it back together and hauled it back to my car. I keep going back to "quick", because it is just that, quick and oh so easy to use. Mind you, this was all before I tried to assemble the C- Tug straps. I'll be honest, I don't think I've ever seen something so easy looking, actually be so complicated that it made me swear. After watching the videos on their website and a couple of others on YouTube, I felt prepared to tackle the straps. I tried once, and failed miserabley with the straps being backwards and the buckle being on the inside. I took it all apart, and watched the video again. Tried to assemble it again, and the same thing, all backwards. After a half dozen more tries and videos, it still didn't make any sense. After an hour, I put it down and let it sit overnight. I came back the next morning determined to figure it out, and after another 30 minutes of trying, finally figured out one side. I thought wow, this will be easy to duplicate on the other side.....wrong. It took a couple more tries to get the other side on. After that, the last buckle and latch are easy to assemble. I've used it now several times with the C-Tug straps, and am still happy with the overall product. Pros: -Stable to use -Handles a variety of terrains well -The wings are easy on the kayak bottom -Dissasembles quickly to stow in the kayak -Weighs very little Cons: -Strap assembly -Strap assembly, -Did I mention strap assembly? Overall this is a quality product, and I am looking forward to years of use. If I could make one suggestion to the makers of C-Tug, it would be to drop the strap and just use a regular lashing strap. I think most people would find that easer to use, and a lot less complicated to assemble.
Overall great product, Well engineered. Easy to assemble, disassemble and use. Many times I don't even need to use the strap unless the terrain is rough. When needed I put my wife's kayak on top of mine and roll both of them down to the lake with very little effort. The strap is just long enough to get around both kayaks.
Amazing product. Literally takes 4 seconds to break down. Rolls fenominal. So happy with this product i quickly ordered a second one for the wife's Kayak.
C-Tug kayak cart is outstanding! Very lightweight and compact. Comes apart and goes back together very quickly and easily by hand. Stores easily in most kayak hatches. The pivoting pads will accept any hull size/shape and the seat belt holds the kayak securely in place. Great cart at a great price. Outstanding service and delivery once again from ACK!
These wheels are terrific. They attach to the kayak quickly and manage bumpy pathways with ease. Well worth the cost!
Will you use this product on a sand beach? What they fail to tell you is how easily sand gets into the wheels where plastic rubs on plastic. Add a little sand and you have instant wear. Mine is less than a week old and is already showing degradation even though I am super careful about washing it off after each use. I also try really hard not to let it get wet which bring the sand up on the wheels and dumps it into wheel axles on every turn. Also you will need some tools to break it down if any sand gets in the cradle mechanism. Great idea very poor execution if used on sand beaches, just about everywhere I go! Definitely not recommended.
One of the pins in the wheel broke on my CTug, and I was heading out on a five day trip in three days. ACK managed to get a pin delivered to me before I left, free of charge. I am still in shock, have never had better customer service from any company ever! ACK rocks!!!!!
This cart works great except for the kickstand, which is pretty much useless. It will not keep the cart upright on concrete or sand while I try to get my kayak on it. Such a shame they didn't make a better kickstand. I need to figure out a way to alter it so it will work.
Goes together and tears down fast. Works well with my slayer 10. Fits in the dry hatch with room for a life vest and dry bag
I will add that ACK was excellent to deal with as usual, great service.
5 stars. The C-Tug is a great cart. Easy to use and works great with both my Jackson Big Rig and Coosa. Works with my Ultimate 14.5 as well but the hull design of that boat is not ideal for the C-Tug but it works. Easy to assemble, the strap is simple and effective when set up properly. Easy to take apart and stow in the hull. I would buy it again.
The C-Tug worked exactly as I needed it to! This cart is definately better than the scupper hole models that could possible put unnecessary wear on the scupper holes. Straps fit snuggly on my Eagle Run 12' Yak. No slipping when either pulling or pushing this cart with yak loaded. The assembly time is amazingly fast and it all fits behind my seat while I'm out on the water. Great Cart!!
The best thing about this cart is moving your kayak when loaded with gear. I have a feel-free Lure 11.5 which has a small roller built into the kayak which works great for moving it around the shop but not so much on rough ground or when loaded. When on the C-Tug the kayak is so stable and easy to move. The second best thing about it is how fast it goes together and comes apart. I like to save money by DIY but I didnt think I could make a trolley that would come apart and stow in the hatch like this.
This cart works awesome. I think you have to watch the installation video. There are some complaints on this cart, mostly about the straps. If you install the straps as laid out in the video they won't slip. I have two of them and neither one slips. It is really neat the way they come apart and easy to put together. We have only used the carts a few times but I would highly recommend the cart. I wouldn't recommend any of the other scupper carts as with all the bouncing and vibration induced during towing it would enlarge or gouge out the scuppers enough to make it tough for a scupper plug to seal up.
I'm really impressed with the design, construction and material of thus cart. Unfortunately it is too low. I have a 16 foot low volume sea kayak and even though I am only 5'3" when I hold either end the other end hits the ground.
Great cart...light weight and easy to assemble. The only negative is that the buckle doesn't hold too well...I ended up replacing with velcro straps.
I purchased 2 of these before they changed from inflatable tires. They worked good with my 16.5' & 14.5' Wilderness Tsunami's. I found that if you pushed it rather than pulling it the Kayak stays on a lot better. I have pushed them over rough ground with no problem. I highly recommend them.
Excellent kayak cart for saltwater environments. No worries about corrosion, light weight, durable and easy to assemble. What else can you ask for?
It is not useable for my outback. I only hae to move it about 40 yds over grass and it slips backward at any slight bump. It is not a strap problem but the fact that the pads do not match up to the Hobie hull.
Worthless with a Hobie Outback. Pads do not make good contact with the hull. When the pads shift the straps lose tension . Just purchase with new outback and can't use.
I was surprised how sturdy the construction was... The assembly instructions could have been better, but once I figured how to assemble, I was impressed with the heavy duty product quality and how the product performed.
I decided to get this cart after my DIY cart broke far into a 1/3 mile portage. This cart does not fit the hull of my WS Ride 115x very well but once centered and strapped down it stays in place will handle rough terrain and sand as long as it's not too deep. This cart is durable and assembles and breaks down quickly. Believe me, it's nice to have a cart you can depend on.
I have yak fished for about 15 years now and I was not young when I began. My preferred yak is an ancient Prowler 13 angler. Although this yak is not heavy by today's standards it seems to get heavier and more difficult to load as I age. Two days ago I ordered a C-tug kayak cart from ACK after discussing the issue with a sales person on the phone who provided me with a lot of his personal experience with the C-tug. I ordered one immediately and it arrived yesterday. I recommend yakkers to visit youtube and see the instructional video on how to assemble it. Will save you a lot of time the first go around. I did not care much for the factory straps which are a bit of a pain to get right. I especially did not like the latch mechanism as it did not look extremely durable. So, I fabricated my own straps from cinch straps I use to lash my yak in my truck bed. Then for a trial run. I do not know how I ever lived before without this little C-tug. It is nothing short of wonderful and it takes two fingers to guide my mounted yak around to wherever I want it to go on almost any surface encountered. I love this little C-tug. And as always ACK folks are the top of the line for service, advice and more. If you are thinking about getting a yak cart the little C-tug should be at the top of your list. Just order one and you will be very pleased indeed.
This is a great cart. It has never failed me, and the fast disassembly with no tools makes it easy to keep sand off the axles. I just returned from a weekend kayak camping/fishing trip where 5 other kayakers asked to borrow my CTug to get their kayaks back up a steep and rough trail. No one had a problem, and the CTug even made it easy to get two fully loaded Slayer Propels up that trail. This a very good piece of equipment.
The key to using the C-Tug is to watch the videos, how to put it together and how to use the straps. I put my Jackson Big Tuna on the C-Tug and it hauls the 14ft, 90-110lb kayak with no problem. I've pulled it through grass, dirt, wet and dry sand, even into the water to launch. A must have accessory for any kayak angler or someone going out solo.
I wish it had a ratchet strap. Hard to get it tight and not slip off; otherwise it works great.
Works great! Very light and easy to use. Easy to put together and take apart. Probably best to watch the online video on how to first prepare the straps for use (even though there are paper directions). Once the straps are prepared you don't have to worry about it for future kayak/canoe trips. Cart rolls easily when loaded. It's expensive, but the purchase was worth it.
Works great! A bit pricey but worth it for ease of use.
Simple design. Perfect performance. I love how quickly the cart can be broken down once I get to the water. In mere seconds, I have a few pieces small enough to fit in a 9'6" SIK and I've had no problem storing the pieces behind the seat. When it's time to take out, the C-TUG snaps together as quickly as it came apart and I'm off and rolling in under a minute. My first trip out, the access was at the bottom of a steep, twenty foot draw. On the way down, I let gravity do the work and simply sent the kayak down first. The wide stance and ample ground clearance of the C-TUG made this type of terrain a non-issue. This baby is as happy on a rocky 45 incline as it is on a blacktop road. Speaking of blacktop, the rubberized wheels allow the cart to run virtually silent, which was a huge relief. Because of the non-pneumatic tires, excessive noise on hard surfaces was the one thing I was worried about as I do a lot of early morning fishing while camping in campgrounds. Everything feels incredibly high-quality and I definitely get the impression that this is something that's going to stand the test of time. Love it!
I purchased this for my Jackson Kayak Cuda after reading other reviews. So far it has been the perfect cart. I watched the videos, both of putting it together and the strap which helped a lot. I even like the strap that some people seem not too. All in all a good purchase and ACK was great to work with.
Works great. Written directions suck, but the video is good. Main thing is getting the straps positioned right, and threading them thru the buckles correctly. Not complicated, but if not done correctly the tug don't work so hot. I use it on a 15' OK Trident.
The C-Tug is a good idea but 2 things are not good. The little kick stand is too short and the straps are not long enough. I gad to buy longer straps. Other wise it is a pretty good unit. I am not using it on a kayak but on a Solo Skiff. It fits the hull perfectly and once you find the cg of the boat it really is an easy pull. With the changes or issues I mentioned rectified I would recommend this
Just purchased a BG Prowler II. I needed a cart and thought the C Tug fit the bill....well not quite. The concept of the cart is great...well made....seems very tough and should last a long time. I had a friend who has one and offered to let me try his to as he said "Make sure it fits your hull". He lived 70 miles away so I did not try it out. Called ACK and spoke to a man who told me he was pretty sure it would work on my kayak as it fits just about anything. Well it doesn't fit the BG Prowler II. I can use it but you have to place it on the hull just right....and even then very little area of the C Tugs pads come in contact with the hull. I like the fact that the material on the pads grips the hull of the kayak. I gave it a good workout on the street pulling it over curbs and such and it stayed put. No way to adjust the pads. Great cart...but if you buy makes sure it fits the hull of the kayak you have.
Really an excellent product. Thought I was going to have problems getting a cart to fit the funky hull on my Native Ultimate 12 but those no-slip pads on the C-Tug are great. The single strap holds tight. Really pleased. Thanks.
Austin Kayak customer service is as always...top notch. This cart is robust and I feel will hold up well. It tracks easily and I have tested it out by jumping it over curbs....rocks and so on. The instructions for how to strap to the kayak have been upgraded on a video....one needs to watch the video or you will not be able to tighten the straps enough to keep kayak on the cart. While this cart will probably work out OK for me it does not really fit the hull of the new Big Game Prowler II. I had a friend who offered to let me try his C- Tug cart to make sure it fit. I wish I had tried it first. This is a good cart but one does need to make sure it fits the hull of the kayak you own.
The C-Tug is great! It both assembles and disassembles with ease. The strap system looks difficult at first, but contrary to my normal approach, I actual followed the direction and it works like a charm. I have several different styles of kayaks and a canoe and it work well on all of them. It easy to stow on board and use on the distance shore. Great for kayak camping trips.
This is definitely the best kayak cart I've used.
I won one of these at an ACK sponsored fishing tournament "KATS". I'm not sure I would have bought one, but after using it I'm sold on it. Easily transports my Tarpon 12 and all gear for fishing. I can now unload my kayak and gear hundreds of feet away from the water and simply wheel it on over to the water. No more leaving the kayak and gear to park or reversing the process when I get ready to leave the lake. I opted to use a small cargo strap instead of the straps provided...it's just simpler.
Easy to assemble and take a part. Stores easily in the kayak. Keep it with me each time I'm on the water. Worth the cost.
Great so far. Cradles and pulls my Ride 115 perfectly. Easy assmebly. Straps were a little confusing at first but easy once figured out. Needed video to help. Seems like it will be a product I can use for a long time.
I used this on a 7 day 235 mile solo kayaking expedition. There were 6 portages that would have proved immensely more difficult without this great piece of gear!! I recommend having this as part of your equipment list. The only drawback is that under heavy load and heavy pulling, the straps can work loose. Other than that, it is the best kayak toter around.
This is a great cart. Can pull anything over any type of terrain. The straps are not set up properly. They do get loose. I tied a knot behind the belt adjuster so the strap could not come loose and had no problems. Well worth the money
yes im a proud c-tug driver my friends like to rib me about all my xtra gear But on are last trip the access point was a half mile trail and not a very good one they made two trips I made 1 easy one oh ya when we left it was the same the c-tug works great do your own research and then buy this one at ack for the best price thanks
