ACK Review: The perfect kayak for your little one. The Acadia scout is narrow and has a seat that will fit them right. Light enough for them to carry and performance that make them feel like one of the big kids.

The Perception Acadia Scout was recommended to us by neighbors who have two of these kayaks for their kids. We purchased one for our boys, ages seven and five, to take turns using on the Cacapon and Potomac rivers in West Virginia. Our older boy has taken to it and likes to paddle up stream. I like this boat because, at around 25 lb., I can easily carry it. It seems to do well in the water, in part, because of it is longer than some. I am likely to buy another one next year so the boys can float together.

My wife and I bought these for our 8 and 11 year old daughters. The boats are simply great. Both girls can keep up with the adults with no problem. They track very well and both girls agree that they are very stable. I've read some negative reviews on these boats but really don't understand how someone cannot love this boat for a young paddler.

My 5 year old grandson loves this boat. He only got to try it once for a very short time in rough water right before it rained. I had him on a tow rope, but he soon had fairly good control over it. We got a 'grandkid' boat because he is getting too big to ride with me. I have paddled this boat, too. It was great on the river, tracked well and was fairly fast in the water. I can easily throw it in the back of the jeep. I am 5'2" and weight about 125 lbs. It is so easy to pick up and carry. Not as much room for my legs when they are bent, but it wasn't too bad. Great multi use kayak and terrific price!!

My 9 year old granddaughter fits into it but the back strap fits poorly with her PFD, a solid seat back would improve this tiny, tippy kayak.

I love the light weight, and it's good and sturdy. However, I was disappointed to find that it doesn't track very well. I also was surprised that it has a speckled finish, because that's not visible when viewed online.

Its pretty good for children because it is easy to paddle because the sides are narrow. It can go pretty fast and makes a tiny wake!
