Something Unexpected Occurred...
Try these backbones in your advanced elements inflatable kayak for improved tracking and sturdiness. The ridge feel this will lend to all your adventures will be worth it every time. Could you function without your backbone?
Customer Rating: 4.4 of 5
If you are a big guy and you are close (or a little above...) your
AdvancedFrame kayak weight limit, this backbone does the trick to
distribute your weight and prevent the kayak to be bent on the
center, with the bow and stern raised. I also notice some
improvement on tracking and speed, but not much.
Does what it claims to. Easy to install or
remove. Do not install if you will be going
over rocks, it does increase hull
vulnerability to abrasion. I just wish they
shipped the boat with a storage bag big
enough to hold the backbone.
A backbone is absolutely
essential, to make your inflatable
act more like a hardshell. Helps
slice through the water.
Honestly, there's no noticeable difference with the Backbone on flat lake or slow river water. It may be that the biggest benefit is in ripple or white water, which I haven't tried since buying the Backbone. If you are using your inflatable just on flat water, you can probably save your money.
