These hip pads are bomber. I replaced the worn-out pads on my
Dagger Mamba with these and I actually like them better than the
original factory pads. They seem well made. They were really easy
to put in. I like the grippy material they use - it helps hold your
hips in place better. Easy to adjust. I also put a pair of these in a
Liquid Logic Remix - I got rid of the "bad-ass" hip pad system,
which I did not like. Great product.
I ordered this kit for a 2012 Wilderness Tsunami 145. I'm 6'5" and 230 lbs. I
only needed to take up a little space beside my hips and thought this
adjustable kit would be perfect. I found the quality of the parts to be
excellent. This is a very nice kit and, once installed, has a factory fit/finish like
it came with the boat. I only found two small issues...
The included instructions were a little lacking. Luckily, Confluence Watersports
has an excellent video on Youtube which outlines the installation of these hip
pads as well as the corresponding backband kit. The title of the video is,
"Maintenance: Phase 3 Seating Modifications". Note: This video looks like it
now only applies to 2012 and older boats. As of 2013 the new Phase 3 Airpro
seats, though quite similar to the "older" XP model, are different.
While the hip pad kit does come with an assortment of adjustment shims, I
was surpised by just how much padding is actually part of the hip pad pocket
(i.e. non-adjustable). The description doesn't mention this. One of the photos
shows a pocket with, I originally thought, the shims installed. Now that I've
seen the kit I can tell you that the photo is actually the pocket itself without
any shims installed. I've found the built-in padding (prior to adding any shims)
to be a little tight for me. We'll see if they break in a little with use. If not, I'll
try placing the pockets under some weight overnight to compress them a little
bit. Overall, not a huge issue but something to be aware of.
