Although the concept is creative, these outriggers will only function on a canoe because of the
weight and mounting requirements. Kayaks are poly which causes the Scotty mount to flex at the
source of attachment. With thousands of flexing movement, your kayak will crack no different than
the problems cause by certain kayak carts that crack scupper holes from flexing over time. These
outriggers are also heavy 10 lbs.+, bulky and awkward. They are coveniently placed but if you
glue the PVC to the floats, you end up with 2 large Croquet mallets for transport or take up a
lot of room should you be required to remove them while on the water. Just a note: I would not
glue them, rather get 2 more clevis pins and just drill the holes required to hold the floats to
the shafts, that way they are really portable and can be handled in the same space they are
shipped in for on-the-water use. The shafts are made of 1 1/4 PVC Schedule 40 which makes them
heavy which is about 1/6th the weight of most 12 kayaks. Raising them out of the water for
paddling will make you top heavy so you most take that into consideration. This product would
receive a 5* for canoes because these outriggers are built well and are rugged for stream use
because they a not inflatable where punctures are a concern and that a strong mounting platform
does not stress the gunwales.

Incredibly fast service and a
great product. The Yak-Gear
canoe
outriggers were simple to
install and made for a
wonderful
canoeing experience for our
two young children ages 6 & 4
who
could simply be kids in the
canoe. Thank you!
