This a decent bivy except it would be better if the zipper zipped from both sides and met in the middle. This way you could zip it half way down and your face out- the way it is now, the zipper zips from one side to the other- so the only way to zip it half way is to be vertical down half your face (if that makes sense...)

Review:

The bivy was great on a non- raining night. The next night it poured for a solid hour, and by the time I went out to get into it for some rest, the inside had about a gallon of water in it, soaking my sleeping bag. Ended up sleeping in a nearby cabin. I ensured that everything was locked down and zipped up, so I know that the material let the water in. Im not displeased entirely, it was a pretty intense rain, and I shouldnt expect it to be 100% waterproof over the extended amount of time. In a light rain, I believe it would fair fine, but I would not depend solely on it to keep you dry in a rain storm.

While the bivy fabric is intended to be waterproof, the zipper is not. In this case it is likely that the heavy rain made its way into the bivy through the zipper. You can easily test the fabric for waterproofness. Fill a jar with water, lay the material over the jar (outside of material toward inside of jar), rubber bad the material tightly around the lip of the jar and turn the jar and material over to check for moisture coming through the fabric.
