We purchased two j-dock systems
for outdoor storage at our lake
house. Rather than mount them
into the wall as pictured
online, we sank two 4x4 deck
posts into the ground at a
suitable width to span the
length of our kayaks. A set of
brackets are fastened to
opposite sides of each post.
This kind of storage is working
well for us. Kayaks are off
the ground and generally safe
from critters. I expect the
brackets to weather fine in the
upcoming winter months.

Initially bought a pulley type
hoist system to store my Hobie
Outback kayak up the garage
ceiling but was too difficult
for me to install by myself
and would have had to drill at
least 8 holes onto the
ceiling. After talking to the
guys at ACK they suggested the
Malone J-dock and it worked
perfect and was so easy and
quick to install. It did not
eat up a lot of space in my 2
car garage since the kayak is
on its side. Thank you ACK!

I have two 14.5 foot kayaks
that I was hanging on
a garage wall with straps. I
bought 2 of the
Malone J-docks to replace the
straps and make it
easier to get the boats up and
down from the wall.
The J-Docks work great. They
were easy to install
with the hardware out of the
box and mounted
securely with the help of an
electronic stud
finder. Also, I ordered them
on Friday and got
them the next day in Oklahoma
City! With the free
shipping! ACK is a great
place to shop.

we are using this right now to

fence. so far so good.
this device is extremely well
made. thick, well
connected, and w/o any rough
edges. the
instructions recommended a
drill size for
predrillling the holes that
was too big. i was
disapointed by this, but i
switched to a smaller
bit and that made the final
install of the bolts
very snug. this device has
solved a lot of
problems, provided the weight
of 2 kayaks doesnt
overwhelm our outdoor fence.
the hanging straps
for our 2nd kayak are also
very very nice and
useful.

worked better that I expected.
They look sharp and easily
holds both kayaks. Two
recommendations when
installing. If you use a
spacer block as others have
recommended, cut it to 3"x3"
and put the bottom screw in
first then slide the block in
the gaps. The block should be
an inch thick. The second
recommendation, on the height
I placed them at 5'5" feet.
This allowed me to place the
top kayak with ease and the
bottom without breaking the
back bending over.

Works as intended. I do
recommend placing a spacer
block between the brackets top
mounting block and the wall.
The way this top block is
designed holds this piece
approximately 1/2" away from
the wall surface. When you
tighten down the lag screws
this mounting block tends to
bow inward towards the
mounting surface and allows
the bracket itself to loosen
over time. By inserting this
packing block you will prevent
this. Well made with this
single, easily correctable,
flaw.

four. My suggestion is that
the manufacturer or the
installer place a flat block
of wood in the void behind the
mounting plate. At present
when tightening the mounting
screws the frame will dig in
and crack the sheet rock if
tightened to much. And you do
want it tight to the wall.

these days. Does exactly what it's intended to do. Hold two kayaks
and is very stable. The straps make pulling up the big kayak a snap,
especially when you are doing it solo.

A simple product that is easy to install. I was able to secure my Feel Free Moken 10 easily on top or hanging. The package only comes with enough straps to secure one kayak but a standard cam buckle strap can be used for the top position if you want to mount 2 kayaks.

The plastic mounting plate on one of the two mounts broke within 6 months of installation. Malone did replace the defective mount. I noticed as I replaced the mount that the plastic will flex if overtightened, leading to potential for further failure. The design probably should be modified to include the addition of a flat metal plate behind the tubular steel which mounts against the wall. Overall, a very good product as long as it stays mounted to the wall.

Well Built storage solution for 2 kayaks. Easy to install. I installed it outside to hang the kayaks along a fence panel in the backyard. Modified the storage loops on the bottom with a locking carribiner to hang a smaller kayak through the carry handles, as the spread between the fence posts was a little wide to store it through the bigger loops as directed. This actually made it have somewhat of a quick release feature. Over all this product is a good value and has many flexible uses.

I have two kayaks, a 12' and a 10'. The Malone J-Dock Hybrid Kayak Storage System holds both of them perfectly. I have the 12' on the top and the 10' hanging in the straps. Very easy to use. Storing and retrieving from the hanging straps is easier than you would think. Installation was a snap!

designed a bit different on the edges as my Pungo 120 curves just enough to not sit on the cushion. I improvised and used old Yak Grips to make a second cushion and that works wonders.

I too searched for a cost effective solution for getting my kayaks up and out of the way. I bought the Malone J-Dock because the price was great and I figured if it didn't work I wasn't out too much cash.
In a word, it's Great. I have two Ocean Kayak Scramblers on it and it holds them just fine. I have zero complaints about this product.
If you're looking for an inexpensive storage solution that actually works, this one is the bee's knees.

I was looking for something compact to store my Prijon touring boat. This worked great. Easy to install and holds the 62lb boat easily. The only negative I have is the plastic mold around the bolt hole. As I was tightening the bolt to the wall I managed to crack the plastic. It hasn't affected anything so far and I really don't expect it to.

These are nice ..installs easy holds 2 Perception kayaks (13 foot) no problem .. we use a chain threw the scupper holes to lock everything up ... nice storage rack.

OK - I use mine for sit-a-top ocean kayaks.. and it hangs in the barn... it is nicely painted and rust hasn't been an issue... I am well within weight ratings, and it flexes a little... but is a great economical way to get these giants of mine up and out of the way in the barn. Works well.

In my opinion the best kayak storage system in the market. Easy to install. All equipment is supplied, you just need to bring your drill or screwdriver. The only criticism is that it isn't as solid as the Malone AutoLoader. This seems quite curious when the J Dock is designed for near constant usage whereas the Autoloader is only used for transportation. I would have expected the JDock to be have been the more robust of the two systems. It's a minor criticism however and I'm perfectly happy with my JDock.
