| Review: | This is without a doubt the best possible upgrade in terms of ROI. I'm unaware of any other accessory that's $25 and rivals the positive change. Makes handling a breeze. Only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the size/weight. It's to be expected, but be prepared for a more difficult raising and lowering experience. Other than that, buy it. | ||

| Review: | This is by far the easiest, quickest upgrade I have ever made to a kayak. It has made a huge improvement in sailing my Hobie Adventure. In paddle and pedal mode it also helps tracking. I find myself making less rudder adjustments. I also attached the new Hobie steering knob for the rudder control and I am yaking in style now! For this price, this upgrade simply cannot be beat. | ||

I agree with the prior reviewer; logically both this and the fins are worth having, but should be automatically standard with the Hobie. Hobie ought to do away with their standard sizes. Several friends of mine own Hobies and all have upgraded for better handling on the lake. | ||

( Maybe too responsive when at slow speed when you are fishing and you have to make frequent small adjustements). Worth having. Not sure why this is not a standard feature | ||

Of note: it is harder to use the twist & stow pulley system with the larger rudder. I followed the Hobie forum information and loosened the adjustment bolt in the rudder system and now it flips up & down with less effort. Also, if you own an inflatable, there is a specific rudder for it (81397101 i-Series Large Twist-n-Stow Rudder Blade). | ||

The only complaint I have with it's increased size is that when handling the yak on land, it has become significantly harder to get at the rear T-handle when the rudder is in the up/stowed position. | ||

| Review: | For the Oasis (large and heavy tandem) you must get this rudder. It has a little more drag in the water, but you need it for best control in wind and waves. Using it, we have found we can strap a 10-foot inflatable catamaran alongside our Oasis and suffer no loss of steering. Easy to change. Carry the old one as a spare in case you whack a rock. | ||

I was afraid it would be too difficult to lift with the twist and stow rudder system because the standard rudder was a little difficult but I really don't notice much of a difference. Even if there is a difference, the performance improvement is more than worth the trade off. | ||

| Review: | This rudder is a must and should have come stock on all Hobie's. It is more responsive and turns sharper then before. Also with the sail kit this rudder really shines and keeps you going where you want.
This is a must for everyone with a Hobie. The only difference that one might see as negative is the fact that it is harder to raise and lower, but not to much. |

The standard rudder on the Hobie Adventure is less than half the size of the sailing rudder. It is a MUST HAVE....highly recommended. (also get the turbo fins). | ||
