| Review: | ACK was very easy to deal with. If you dont have the turbo fins you need to get them. I cant really figure out why Hobie doesnt make these standard. If you want easier pedaling just pedal easy. The kayak will still go faster than with the same effort with standard fins. | ||

| Review: | I must if you have a Hobie Adventure with the standard fins. Huge increase in speed and distance. Add a larger rudder to your order and the combination for the Adventure makes a noticeable difference in the performance of the model. | ||

| Review: | One stainless post had a flat place for a wrench and one did not. Neither had the ends grooved for a screw driver like the original ones. The originals were so hard to get out that the brass nut turned inside the rubber. It would have been fun to change these out in the field without a pipe wrench handy. score...0 | ||

| Review: | Turbo Fin adds a lot more thrust providing more power against currents, good for leg/cardio workout. | ||

| Review: | One try and you are hooked, you won't want to go back to the standard fins. This set was for our second boat - it was no fun cruising with mismatched boats, the non-turbo boat could never keep up. Watch the shallows, and I've heard if you are too aggressive with them they can tear, but I've not had any problems. | ||

| Review: | Didn't want to spend the money right after buying my boat but I had tried them on another boat and was impressed. They work great with less effort.I think they should come standard on Hobies as the boat itself is very expensive. | ||

| Review: | Great product. Gives the legs a better workout because of more resistance. Better starts and cruising speeds. Watch out for the shallows more. | ||

| Review: | The ST Turbo fins turn the Hobie Adventure Island into a different boat. Moving the boat is easier and faster. Powering through tacks or just picking up some extra speed in low winds with t he new fins is a breeze. Installation was a snap. Just follow the video. | ||

| Review: | We got the Hobie Mirage Turbo Fins with our boat and they do provide great power. I can't compare them to the standard since I had ACK install them when I bought the kayak. However they do increase the draft of the kayak and that can limit you a little if you like to explore tidal marches as we do. | ||

| Review: | The turbo fins are especially necessary if you want to sail your kayak (they act as center boards of a sail boat). The speed of pedaling is faster. I don't notice much difference in effort required to pedal. Perhaps that is because I followed the advice given on the Hobie forum (http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=10176&hilit=adjusting+turbo+fins) to keep the tension loose in the fins (by adjusting the screw at the top left corner of the fin). Using this technique, you get speed without a lot of extra effort. | ||

| Review: | I bought these fins as an upgrade on my Outback, however I'm still deciding whether I really like them better than the original fins. They definitely give you more speed,..however it comes with a noticeable increase in effort required to move the pedals now. Not that it's become a real strain, but I used to be able to cruise at slow speed with almost no pedaling effort and now I find myself thinking about it more! One place where they are definitely nice however, is when you need to move against moderate wind & current! | ||

| Review: | With the original fins, it felt like riding a mountain bike around in first gear. The turbo fins provide a much better feel to the pedals. If anything, they might still be a little underpowered--but at least they still fit in the mirage drive bag. I bought them because I got the sail kit, but I would strongly recommend them for any man. Petite women and children may prefer the smaller fins, but I doubt it. | ||

| Review: | These will work your legs more, but give you a higher potential for maximum power application. You will probably adopt a slower pedaling cadence with these, like using a higher gear on a bicycle. If your legs are tired or your knees sore, you might occasionally find yourself wishing to have the easy, "low-geared" pedaling with the stock fins, but in general you won't regret using Turbos once you are accustomed to them. | ||

| Review: | The Hobie Mirage Turbo Fin Kit is an excellent product. I agree with other users that these fins should be the standard issue on the Hobie Adventure kayak since it's primary design and use is speed and performance. I love the kick that you get with these fins over the smaller standard ones. If in doubt about buying them...buy them. You will not be disappointed!! Also I can't say enough about Austin Kayak as the best online source I have found for kayak accessories. Best prices, discounts, delivery and no tax to me. Keep up the excellent work! | ||

| Review: | After reading other reviews I bought the Turbo fin kit for my Adventure Island. I was very happy with the increased speed when helping during a tack turn. I was also surprised that the Turbo fins seemed to help with up-wind sailing. I was so pleased that I ordered a set of Turbo fins for our Outback SUV. Well worth the price! | ||

| Review: | You won't be disappointed when you add these fins to your kayak. Yes, it is a little harder to peddle, but you can go faster with very little effort.I do recommend checking all set screws and nut after each outing. The extra torque will loosen them up,so make sure you use lock tight on them. Enjoy your new fins! I do! | ||

| Review: | This is fantastic, and it is even adjustable for effort! This should be the only fin. My average speed is up 1/2 to 3/4 knot and I experience less fatigue because of the lower recycle rate of the muscles. | ||

| Review: | Now, I can comfortably cruise at 3.8 to 4.2mph on a calm lake. It is a hoot to pass paddle tandems, challenge them to a quarter-mile race, and then leave them far behind in my wake. Again, Hobie should make this the standard propulsion unit. | ||
| Reviewer: | Richard | Rating: 5 | Date: 08/08/2008 |
| Review: | These were great for getting more speed. They give a little more resistance on the pedals, but make up for it by not having to pedal as fast. I'm very happy with them. | ||

| Review: | I bought two sets of these fins for a Hobie outfitter tandem, and used ACKs discount code in their newsletter. I couldn't be happier with them. The turbo fins slow down the cadence required to maintain a decent clip, which I find more comfortable than the stock fins. | ||

| Review: | A little pricey but a must for the mirage drive. Hobie should use these as stock fins. Increased speed with much slower cadence. It is like being in the correct gear on your bike rather than stuck in low gear. | ||
| Reviewer: | Dave | Rating: 5 | Date: 07/01/2008 |
| Review: | After changing one set of fins to the Turbo Fins on my tandem, I took the yak out solo with both Mirage Drives to test the fins. The turbo fins moved faster through the water with less peddling. Great improvement over the stock fins, now I just need a second set for the front! | ||
| Reviewer: | Ed Mc | Rating: 5 | Date: 06/28/2008 |
| Review: | If you are on the fence about these go for it! The way the mirage drive should come as standard. Very little extra effort compared to stock nice increase in speed. | ||

| Review: | I installed my Turbo kit before putting my Outback in the water, so I can't compare the Turbo to normal fins. What I can say, is that I have no problem pedaling the yak with the Turbo fins and I can easily maintain 2.5 to 3 mph with relatively little effort. They must work. | ||

| Review: | The turbo fin is incredible! It increase my peddling speed from about 2.2mph to about 3.8mph, while keeping my cadence at a very comfortable pace. I can go much faster if I peddle faster! There is more resistance with the turbo fin. But I equate it to going slightly downhill on a bike using the med chain ring (turbo fins) vs the small chain ring (reg fins!). You go a lot farther with every stroke!
I let my 2 friends try it, and they each purchased one the next |

| Review: | Increased speed .5 to .75 mph with same cadence as std fins on Revo. A little extra effort required, but you get used to it quickly. At slow speeds (2-2.5 mph) it is effortless. Well worth the expense. | ||
| Reviewer: | Damien | Rating: 5 | Date: 06/11/2007 |
| Review: | They do exactly what the say and they do it very well. The pressure it takes to peddle compared to the originals is substantial but not to tough. We can now maintain a 1 mph average increase in cruising speed.
If you are on the fence, get them they are great! |
