Return to Scotty Baitcaster Rod Holder Product Details.
Description: The Scotty Baitcaster Rod Holder holds a bait caster or spinning reel in a cushioned cradle. A slot in the front of the rod holder allows for the reel to be securely held in position. The rod holder design has a side mounted flange, which leaves the bottom open. Available with either a Deck Mount or Flush Mount base.
ACK Review: Works for either your baitcaster or your spinning reel. Great way to secure and protect your rod and reel. Keeps your rod and reel out of the water while allowing you to adjust the angle to keep the tip out of the trees while your paddling into your secret coves.

| Review: | I bought 2 of the deck mount baitcasters. These baby's rock. Gives me the opportunity to paddle through low brush that I couldn't before using only my old style flush mounts.I'll have to keep these when I upgrade to a new Tarpon 160 which I will buy here at ACK. This crew is the best, bar none. | ||

| Review: | Got tired of my rods on my kayak being behind me while trolling. Installed the scotty up front so I could see the rod tips while trolling/paddling. These are very sturdy and work like a champ. | ||

| Review: | I purchase Scotty rod holder for a kayak. No joke,My kayak is a Advance Element. I can't use screws. So ACK offered me a rubber mount that and a glue that seem to work. I been dragged by a mean catfish with rod in holder. I due suggest a safety strap from base to reel. | ||

| Review: | This is a great product! I have several deck mounts on my kayak, and this holder works well from all locations. The adjustability combinations are endless, so no matter what angle you want the rod to be in, you can probably set it up that way. Just bought another one so I can use as little or as many as I need. You can't go wrong with this product. | ||

| Review: | The Scotty baitcaster rod holder is convenient and easy to use. i fish from my kayak, and i use it to trawl. it is very useful, accessible, and easy to access your rod with one hand. there have been times when i forgot to strap my rod, and moved on and trawled some more. i caught a fish, and my rod stayed. it works well for me and i recommend it to others. | ||

| Review: | The Scotty rod holder is the best solution for securing a spinning or casting rig when in calm or rough conditions. I have 6 of them that are shared between my cataraft and my kayak, secure some extra bases and just move the rod holder to your boat of choice. These are not made of cheap plastic, the material is high quality and the adjustments work flawlessly. I will never buy anything but Scotty. | ||

| Review: | Will hold any type of rod/reel combination except possibly a fly rod. Because of the 2 planes of adjustment you can have your rod at any angle you wish. I used 1 1/4" St St. bolts & nylon lock nuts along with a 1/8" alum. backup plate for installation. | ||

| Review: | Picked up two of them, great product with regard to quality - but does NOT work with Shimano Chronarch low profile bait casters. I suspect any low profile bait caster is going to have the same fit problem with this rod holder. | ||

| Review: | The Scotty Baitcaster Rod holder is of excellent quality as with all Scotty products. This rod holder is easy to install in just minutes and work well with my spinning reel. I fish in lakes and rivers so my standard rod fits fine. Keeps my rod right at hand. Again thanks to Austin Canoe and kayak for immediate shipping, from Texes to West Virginia in 3 days or less can't be beat. | ||

| Review: | These are solid, well engineered rod holders! The baitcaster model is a little small for some of my saltwater rods, so I plan to buy the Powerlock Rod Holder 230 for that! Best thing is, the bases are universal for different Scotty holders and accessories! And of course, ACK is my first (and only) stop for Yak accessories!!! | ||

| Review: | I'd suggest buying the Ram Rod holder. I use spinning and bait casters and it holds neither of them very well. Also, the flush mount requires you to cut out a fairly large hole to mount it. Mine is collecting dust in the garage. | ||

| Review: | If you fish from your kayak you have to have these. I like the flush mount base but either works fine. Scotty makes a great rod holder. You can't go wrong. | ||

| Review: | I generally use 2 fixed & flush rod holders in the back for simply transporting rods while paddling and then one Scotty up front for actually fishing. The "fishing" is usually live bait or cut bait and I also purchase extra Scotty base mounts and install them in other parts of the kayak. This is especially helpful if you use an anchor trolley system to help align the kayak with the current or wind. I use 1/4" x 20 stainless machine screws about 3/4" long, washers & lock nuts for most installations. When I cannot reach the inside of the kayak (such as some sit-on-top kayaks) I drill an 1/8" pilot hole and use #12 x 3/4" stainless oval head screws. Don't forget a glob of silicone on each corner of the base. | ||

| Review: | This unit is surprisingly well made. It's about as compact as it can be and still be built like a tank. It does have two slight flaws however in that the little rubber rod "keeper" is kind of a hassle as it must be pushed out of the way to lay your rod into the holder and also the cog system used to secure the holder positioning needs to be a little more "incremental" as it sometimes leaves the rod pointing "just a little too high or a little too low" I modified mine by placing a large flat washer between the two mount pieces and that holds very well while allowing exact placement of the rod angle. | ||
