(ACK is the greatest!) Read the instructions, then read them again. It all works. Installation would be easier on a raised bench, but working on the garage floor got it done. Lay out all the screws and bolts; some of the length differences are small. I had to buy two longer screws to fit my boat, Lowe's has a good selection of stainless screws. Something to keep the pedals from sliding back off the rails would be a good addition. The rudder made a huge difference in handling the wind that seems to blow every time I am on the water.

Bought this for my Heritage Angler 14 kayak that I got at another sports outlet (did not know that ACK was located in Houston). It fits and adapted fairly easy to it with tons of spare parts. In fact with enough spare parts to make an anchor trolley with the small addition of a stainless clasp (about $3.00) and some cord. I was able to use the plastic rudder mount because the Heritage already has the right screw holes for it. The plastic tubing was the hardest thing to do with the kit and I had to use a riveter to mount the rudder holder because of lack of access. I used a coat hanger straightened out to run the tubing as suggested by ACK and it worked pretty good. Even then there are still a lot of unused parts. The rudder works great, even better than I anticipated. I believe this can be adapted to whole range of kayaks.

Good rudder, glad I have it and would recommend it. I ordered a Perception Prodigy 13.5 to bring my dog kayaking and ordered this rudder through ACK as well which was a better value than getting the kayak with the rudder from the factory - and it's the same rudder. ACK did the install so I cannot speak to that. I'm 6'3 and this is a companion kayak not tandem, all which means I had to order the $36 extension kit (Kayak Rudder Cables with Crimps) in order to move the pedals to the forward tracks on the Prodigy 13.5. In the rear position my knees were straight up and I actually forced the cable out of the crimp my first time out on the South Llano. One more thing, as other reviewers have stated, there is no back pressure on the pedals and they can easily come off the rails if you're not careful. I read a review elsewhere where a guy took shock cable and effectively bungeed the pedals towards to the bow. I've done the same and highly recommend it. Besides securing the pedals in the track from falling out, you can remove your feet and the rudder will return to the straight/neutral position.

    Review:
The rudder kit worked fine on the Pescador 12 Angler kayak I have, and performance of the rudder is great, life is much simpler when fishing now. The only issue with installation is that the Pescador 12 (SOT) does not have a large rear storage hatch, so the first attachment for the control line cannot be bolted, only screwed onto the kayak. seems to be holding ok though. very satisfied with the rudder.

Great rudder exactly as explained and came with plenty of extra parts to adapt to almost anything.

    Review:
Rudder works good when in the water. Hard to open/close with rope and tabs provided. Would not work at all after going in the ocean with them and had to take them apart and clean them out as they were stuck with sand in them. The foot stops came off completely and had to be replaced then had to install a screw to stop them from coming off again. No big deal but it cost me $40 to replace them and they really shouldn't come off at all but you can just about blow them off with your breath.
