Love this tent, in some ways. Great price on ACK, light,
easy to set up. It is a bit like sleeping in a coffin. Room
for only the most essential inside the tent. Had more
condensation inside the next morning than I was
expecting. The vestibule of the fly is so small I could
only put my boots there, sideways at that. If you are
taller than 5'8" or wide body this is not the tent for you.
There is enough room in the middle to sit up and that's
Product arrived promptly. Very
pleased with service. Intend to
use ACK again.
Ive been researching 1 person backpacking tents under $100.00 and kept coming across this tent
with excellent reviews most of the time. Ive not gone out yet, but I did seal the seams and floor and
set it up in my backyard. Easy to set up with enough room inside to sit up and roll on my side while
sleeping. Throw the steel stakes away and get aluminum or titanium I got 10 aluminum stakes. A
small vestibule by the entrance offers some room for boots or a pack I plan to keep my stove there
for my mandatory morning cup of coffee an even smaller semblance of a vestibule is on the non-
entrance side which can hold smaller items. I like the vent on top for air flow and understand the
importance of orienting the tent with the vent facing the wind. Minimum of 2 stakes to pitch with up to
10 if it needs to be guyied down due to winds. Reasonably light. Ive seen a number of pictures where
the tent does not appear taught. I got mine tight as a drum very easy. I batted it around to simulate
wind action and it remained nice and tight. There is some space inside at either side while laying
down enough to store gear you may want access to at night while sleeping additional layers of
clothing etc. The mesh will provide plenty of air flow during dry summer nights when I will sleep
without the rain fly. Im happy with the purchase and the price was right with an additional 20%
coupon. I believe this will be a great tent and with reasonable care should last a long time. Delivery
was prompt and so far Ive enjoyed my Austin Kayak purchases. My tent was shipped in the original
Eureka box which clearly advertises the contents and was left at my door. This concerned me
because anyone could have seen the contents and taken it. I gave Austin Kayak my feedback
regarding this shipping practice.
4 stars only because its not
freestanding. Im 61 and have
plenty of room for me, my long
sleep pad, and a 35L pack.
Bigger packs would have to be
stored in the vestibule.
Theres space at your feet for
the small pack & your boots as
well. i can also sit up easily
without brushing my head on
the top. 0 condensation as
well, but it was a dry night
here. The vent works well if
you face it into the wind. I
also turned the tent into the
wind & opened the rain fly
over the entry and it was
relatively cool. I live in TX
& this tent will do fine here
& I dont see an issue with it
being used anywhere. Great
This tent is very nice for one
person. I had already gone
through two tents that didn't
fit me until I got my
Spitfire. This tent allows for
you to stretch out and I'm
5'8" It looks awesome and has
enough room to sit up in it
which is really important
since most 1 person tents
don't allow for that.
