Like having two different snowshoes. One for harder snow and one for deep snow with the tails. They're well made and remove easily.

Review:
The MSR flotation tails are great because you have the freedom of going without the tails on hard pack or ice and retain all the maneuvarability of a 22 inch snowshoe but can add the tails with heavy packing or in powder conditions. Love them!
