Bought this to go with a 12
Manta Ray. Requires a lot of
ingenuity and a little luck and
a telescoping mounting bar but
it does work.

Review:
The Native sail kit, while
quite expensive, does work
well. It essentially installs
like a sailboat mast and the
rope is ran to the back of the
boat and then up toward the
kayaker. I have to say the
directions for installation
were not great at all. Very
poor effort from Native there.
Another issue, a big issue, is
there is NO adhesive for the
bottom bracket to attach to
the boat. Try to find a
polyethylene adhesive...good
luck! This stuff typically
requires plastic welding for a
proper connection. Well I
tried the solder gun method
and it seemed to be good until
wind hit the sail my first
time out. I was very unhappy
of course and cursed Native.
For such an expensive sail kit
I should have received
adhesive hence the 4 star
review. Check your local auto
parts store for such a
product. It should come in a
dual tube, push style-like,
hand caulk utensil. Try to say
that 5 times fast. Anyway,
plastic adhesives generally
produce heat to form a proper
bond. If you can find
something do it in a
ventilated area with water on
hand for safety. There is an
industrial strength adhesive
used in the fiberglass
industry called Plexus and
comes in around $100 for a
tube and requires a special
gun. If you know anyone that
works in a plant that produces
fiberglass this is the best
adhesive you will find next to
a plastic weld. The last
resort, of course, is to drill
holes in your boat hull. This
would be the best method for
strength but you may have to
reseal screw heads each season
and make sure you use
stainless steel. Hope this
first review helps anyone
looking at the sail kit. Also
note the poles are a 2 piece
fiberglass design so they are
pretty strong and flexible.
