When I started paddling a kayak it was purely for recreation, so speed was not an issue. However these days I’ve been doing more tournament fishing from my yak and beating other fisherman to my fishing spots is a must for me to be competitive. I started using a high angle paddling style along with the Werner Cyprus Carbon Straight Shaft Paddle, which lets me dig in as hard as I need to, and it’s minimal weight keeps me paddling all day without the fatigue associated with using a heavier paddle.

Review:
These paddles are ultra light,
ultra durable, and very rigid.
My fly rod weighs more than
these.
Also undamaged after I had to
use it as a shovel to dig my
car out of the sand.
