ACK Review: I bought the Kelty Gunnison 2.1 tent because it’s free standing, and it is inexpensive for the features it offers. After setting up my tents that aren’t free standing, I get discouraged when I have to move the tent over a few feet because of the ground. My wife and I really like the two door feature, we do not have to climb over one another to get out of the tent anymore. If I had one complaint, I wish it were a bit wider. Sometimes keeping our gear inside the tent can be difficult because I’m so tall.

Awesome results. Just got back from a 10 day camping trip across South Dakota. We got stormed on every night with 1/4" hail and 50 mph winds. Not a drop of water made it into this tent. Plenty of room inside for my pack, while my boots and rain gear also stayed dry outside under the rain fly. I carried all my gear and this tent packs up nice and small (including the ground cloth). I do keep the poles packed separate on the outside sleeve. The aluminum poles stood up well in comparison to others on the trip with fiberglass that fractured under the high winds. I'm not sure how well two people would fit but for me 6'1"-225 it is perfect.

bought this because I have a couple of Kelty backpacks that I think the world of. Just went with the gut feeling and turned out to be right. It wasn't till after using it a couple of times that I relized the rainfly was made wrong. Mine doesn't have the windows, am I going to complain? No I would prefer not to have them. So far its been great, can set up blindfolded, has never leaked, condensation hasn't been a problem. If you want buy the matching ground cover, if you want to realy lighten your pack by leaving the tent body and just taking the groundcover & fly. I'm thinking of replacing the aluminum stakes with titanium ones.

Bought one of these for my daughter, she liked it so much I got one for my son. Great to have a door on both sides, and plenty of lenght for a tall person.

The tent was easy to set up, plenty of room for two a few extra inches in width makes a ton of difference, and the zippers seemed good quality. Its loads lighter than my car camping tent - perfect for backpacking. Buying the footprint separately was an annoyance, as it is clearly a must-have accessory for the tent. Fortunately I discovered that *before* my trip by reading plenty of reviews.

Although the Gunnison 2.1 may not be the most current model, it is the tent I was looking for. Its light enough for hyper-light backpacking or bicycle expeditions. Easily sleeps two, and after youve used a tent with two doors, single door models just wont do. It pitches so easily I didnt need to read the instructions and I could do it in the dark. There is a privacy issue created by the window in the rain fly that earns it only 4 stars. I like to feel like no one can look inside if the tent is rocking.
