I'm using the trim tab on a 21ft Chesapeake Sport Tandem 2-person kayak. It does exactly what it advertises to do, which is to reposition the pivot center for the rudder yaw. To operate, you turn the top knob either left or right which in turn moves the rudder blade. Underneath you have another knob that can be tightened to lock the blade in the desired position. I primarily bought the trim tab to help me keep a steady course when sailing, but it also helps compensate for side winds when paddling without a sail. My only gripe is that the plastic material should be finished better - as it stands, the plastic is a dull black and quite porous. It would really look great if made of shiny nylon plastic, or even better, carbon fiber. At least the knob. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the product. The directions are not written very well, or presented clearly. But it's pretty obvious how it goes together.
