Product that is sold by a great company. I had heard that people were having issues with the rivets not break I off correctly, I have yet to have that issue.

The reason for stem break

I found these to hold tight and strong, great product. The reason people have an issue with the stem not breaking off clean at the top of the rivet is due to pulling too far. The stem is made to break off at the bottom of the jaw rolling on the stem (the part that has the little ribs for the jaws of the rivet gun to hold on to). If you pull enough times so that the part of the stem (mandrel) that no longer has any rolling is past the rivet head, that portion will stick out when you break off the spent mandrel. I chose to do this and just sliced it off with my dremel. I then put a smidge of marine sealant over the head of the rivet to ensure no leaks. Easy Peasy.

I have had the same results using a Stanley riveter as described by Jerry Lester. The rivets seem to work great once they are in there, but thus far not one has broken off properly. I use a dremel to remove and smooth the shaft that won't break off. I've also been putting a little clear silicone between the rivet and the hull. Don't know if that is overkill, but seems to work...
ACK's Response:
These rivets do not usually snap off with the force of the rivet gun. You are best served by using the rivet gun until you feel pressure on the rivet and then removing the rivet gun and tapping the stem of the rivet to the side and it will break clean.
