Does the job but sometimes the rivet breaks to expose the rivet shank. Other times it does not expose the shank end.

This style of rivet is not designed to break when it is pulled vertically. Depending on your rivet gun, 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 pulls will set the rivet properly. Once the rivet is set, remove the rivet gun and tap the stem laterally (to the side) and it will snap off clean. It is a good idea to practice on some scrap material to get the proper feel.

Worked great. I used them to install my flush mount rod holders. Mine broke off a little high and I had to file them down, but I suspect it was because of my rookie rivet installer status. I will buy again if needed.

Each Rivet costs a little too mucho, but they seem of very good quality and strength. I was surprised to see that the center rod does not cut automatically with precision at the edge of the rivet when fixing it, for every rivet, so i need to go in and cut it manually and grind the remaining edge to a smooth surface. As for ACK, prime service, great doing business with you.

Was very happy with this product. I used a 3/16 drill bit and had to slightly wallow the hole out to maintain a tight fit and have been greatly happy using to mount circular RAM base on my Odyssey. Im happiest though with ACKs customer service. I had a order shipped and lost thru Fed Ex and ACK reshipped my order through UPS and I recieved it the next day. ACK is honestly one of the best customer service experiences I have ever experienced. Truly top notch.

I like the rivets. I used these before and they worked fine, but I just ordered a cheek block for my mainsheet and these wont fit the holes in the block. They are too fat. So, I went with stainless hardware. Not a big deal, but I would have hoped that the rep at ACK might have asked if I was planning to use the rivets with the block...then he/she could have told me that they wont fit. Maybe that is too much to ask, but ACK is a great store, so I have high expections.

A rivet it a rivet, but these rivets have their own sealing material on the area that makes contact with your hull, which makes them superior to others Ive purchased. Theyre self sealing. This is what Ill be buying as I continue never ending to modify my yaks.

Super fast shipping. Could not belive that it arrived before some other items I was expecting that were ordered days before from another site. The product is great, except that it broke off a little too long after installing, so i had to grind of some at the end. It may have been caused by the gun or the product, either way it holds strong and looks great.

I used these rivets to replace the torn handles on my Trident Prowler 13. They were easy to install with no extra work (cutting, grinding, etc.),they look "factory", and they held the weight of the kayak with no issues.

These rivets hold well and look great. I have also had the rivet ends get stuck in my gun because of the grooves along the shaft (which are meant for a better grip), but they are not too much trouble to push out.

Jerry Lester: The rivets with little rings on the stem like these are star rivets made for Ocean Kayaks. If you have the proper size rivet holder on your gun they work perfectly. The smoothe stem rivets (with no rings on the stem) often require you putting a small washer on the underside of the rivet before you pop the rivet to keep the rivet from ever pulling through. The second type of rivet(smoothe stem)are very common on many other kayak brands.

Great rivets!They have a little rubber ring under the rivet head to make a seal that many similar rivets don't have. As always ACK had the best price and best customer service. You will never find a better company to do business with. That is coming from someone who has made many orders with them over the years.

I'm sure these will hold well, but I had a lot of difficulty with them. Over 75% of them broke the stem off well above the rivet head. I had to snip off with dikes and file down. Like mentioned before, had to fight to pull the gun off the stem. A brand new rivet gun, too. Works, but with effort.

In cases where the rivet breaks off higher the expected, the culprit is usually that the nozzle of the rivet gun is too big. Try a smaller nozzle. Another option is to onyl squeeze the gun enough to compress the rivet, remove the rivet gun and tap the rivet stem with the gun to either side and the rivet will snap off clean.

I opted to attach nylon pad eyes to my old Perception Keowee 2 kayak with pop rivets rather than deck screws and nuts. They look great, and I don't have to be concerned with the accidental loss of a nut. Austin Canoe & Kayak has excellent, low-priced hardware and gear for the upgrading of any kayak, and their service cannot be outdone. I am well-pleased, indeed.

These are the "star" rivets and they hold very well. I use them on most of installs and I've yet to ever have one pull through. Order a bunch they are great to have whenever you decide to install something new on your kayak.

Dont hold up, do yourself a favor and get some stainless steel bolts and lock nuts instead. The rivets pulled out after just a few times loading and unloading my yak. If you have to use rivets try to find some of higher quality.

The only problem I had with them is they were breaking off with the stem still sticking out 1/4" inch, cut with a hacksaw and moved on. For the strength and durability they are awesome, very easy and quick to attach anything with them.

Nice factory look when using these rivets, when they brake off clean and flush. On most applications its not that big of a deal since you can snip and grind it flush. However, mine broke off between the teeth of a cleat. Not the easiest place to get tools into. Other than that minor inconvenience these rivets work great and hold strong. Perfect for when getting a nut inside is just not possible.

Installed using Arrow Professional Grade Twister Rivet Tool from Lowe's. Used on ACK nylon folding paddle clips, nylon pad eye, and ram rod revolution rod holder. Just added a dab of silicone and it makes for a nice and clean watertight mount.

great pop rivet it actually has some sealant on the inside of the flat part, making it waterproof as it is installed, very nice indeed. be advised the price is for each rivet not a dozen or group be sure to order enough.

Protruding studs on each rivet after cutting. I had to either saw the excess off with a hacksaw or punch it through, which leaves an opening in the hull. They seem secure, and I like the fact that they have a seal built in, but I'm not pleased overall. It may be that they work better with some rivet guns than others. I used the brand they sell at home depot.

I got a few of these to install rod holders on my kayak.They are nice because they are black and have a little bit of rubber sealant to make it waterproof. A few of them broke off too high but I just used a hammer to knock the pin down and they still hold tight.

These are the best rivets for any kayak accessories. I bought 20 rivets, for installing flush mounted rod holders on my OK Scrambler 11. I recieved and email and I off handely mentioned that some of the rivets received were oxidized and that I was really happy with the quick delivery service they provided. Could you believe that ACK sent me 10 new rivets automatically? I am so impressed with the ACK's customer service, I have recommended them to all my kayak buddies and if ever I need any additional accessories I will use ACK.

Local kayak shops here either want to charge a bundle, or they're out of stock, or they offer the wrong kind of rivet. These work great and don't slip in your rivet gun (leaving excess to grind off). They snip clean and flush & seat very well in pad eyes & similar accessories. Thanks ACK!

These are good rivets. Most of the time, they break off flush. I bought 60 of these to install hatches, pad eyes and deck rigging on 3 new kayaks, and all but a few snapped off flush. The ones that didn't snapped off about 1/8 of an inch too high and had to be ground down with my dremel. However, those were in tight too. The only thing these don't have is a built in washer. Some others I bought had that.

DON'T EVER USE HARDWARE STORE RIVETS ON YOUR KAYAK, EVEN IF YOU BACK THEM UP WITH WASHERS. ALSO, THERE ARE MANY CHEAP VERSIONS OF THESE "KAYAK" RIVETS. THE CHEAP ONES BREAK OFF ABOUT 1/4" ABOVE THE SURFACE AND LEAVE A SHARP STUB STICKING OUT = ADDITIONAL INSTALLATION TIME!! THESE ACK RIVETS ARE PERFECT FOR ANY KAYAK INSTALLATION ALTHOUGH I WOULD GO TO WELL NUTS FOR HEAVY DUTY STUFF LIKE SIDE CARRY HANDLES, ETC.

These rivets are called tri-grip or tri-fold and provide three flattened legs when installed, providing a much more secure hold than standard rivets which will pull through the plastic body of a kayak after a little usage, especially with side mount carry handles. The tri-grips are a little more expensive, but well worth it for the added strength they provide. Superior product.
