Something Unexpected Occurred...
Check the dimensions and install the small rectangular kayak hatch with confidence. The extra space you can access inside your kayak is worth it.

i wanted to access the space
underneath the tankwell, in my
Mahi sit on top. This C.O.D
hatch suited the job
admirably, was exactly the
right size, well made, and all
fittings included, and a
unique "deck gasket" included.
The removable internal "bag"is
made of a strong fabric and
has drain holes, much better
than the water retaining non
removable neoprene sacks so
often associated witj this
sort of set up. T handle is
strong and will withstand
punishment. Spring is about
to start, I'M READY TO HIT THE
Perfect fit for my Malibu XFactor. Used it to replace the old four point hatch which was terrible to have on the deck, but useful in its new location behind the seat. Ran into a problem with the old holes not matching up with the new when swapping the hatches out, but ACK Houston welded them up no problem. Excellent hatch, excellent store.
This is an incredibly useful addition to any kayak. The problem is that there just aren't many kayaks that have a large perfectly flat area on the deck where this will work. Fortunately, I have a 16' Cobra Eliminator with a huge flat aft deck and perfect for this hatch.
Installation was pretty straight forward --- remember "measure twice and cut once"! The most tedious part was installing the 24 screws around the frame. I opted for 1/4 - 20 stainless machine screws with stainless fender washers and nuts to get a good seal and eliminate "dimples" in the hull. The dry bag was a little too deep for my hull but I found that I could remove, shorten and reattach the bag to its frame fairly easily to keep my dry stuff high and dry.
