ACK Review: The Ocean Kayak gaspachi oval hatch works just like tupperwear but I don't recommend keeping mac and cheese left overs in your kayak.

| Review: | Just got my hatch and it was a snap to install. SUPER hard to get on though, but I trusted the other reviewers that it would loosen over time and it has. Removing it is a bit awkward having to pull on the attached strap. I'm hoping it doesn't start to tear at that stress point with repeated use. They are good quality and Austin has the best price. That being said, these are very expensive little gismos. Wish there was a pull-ring on the top edge for easier removal. Still, it is worth having these on your kayak. | ||||||||

| Review: | I was disappointed I had no choices for the Malibu Two XL round hatches other than this one. I would have preferred one of the other style screw-in or pop-lock lids. However, I'm thankful for ACK warning me that those other hatches wouldn't work with the Malibu Two XL and recommending this one. It was very easy to install. The directions talk about using a jigsaw. I actually used my Dremmel tool with a router bit, and it was a breeze. Note, you don't actually HAVE to install the eyelet they provide to attach the strap. The strap is long enough to reach one of the already installed eyelets on the Malibu Two XL. As with other reviewers, I searched high and low and ACK had the best prices. | ||||||||

People using this kayak mainly in heavy duty surf might not want to add the hole.....but I use mine for general recreational use and appreciate the ability to store items in the hull. | Review: | does a good job of keeping water out. Used a little armorall to get it on initially. Needs to stay on kayak awhile to break in. I used a small piece of closed cell foam with a hole in it to stick a sharpy through to get a nice even mark to cut on. I like these hatches because they don't leak. | ||||||||

My suggestion is to look for a kayak already geared with these items attached, or see if they can be installed before delivery. BUT....LOVE my Ocean Kayak Malibu Two XL. Extremely pleased. | ||||||||

| Review: | I just finished installing these on my scrambler. I used a rotozip tool and it went fairly well (I did it free hand)the second one was much better! Anyhow they're easy to install and seem really snug (might be iffy gettin' 'em off with wet hands) but they sure don't appear like they'll leak! Price and service were the best around (in the US) | ||||||||
