ACK Review: The Native Mariner rectangle outfitting plate is a designed plate to install your rod holders, gps units, fishfinder brackets or whatever you feel is necessary for your fishing expeditions. 2 things I have found that I are I mounted one of our check it sticks to the plate and that way its easy for me to get a steady picture while on the water and the other one is that I installed some bungee in a cross pattern and I will stick my maps underneath so I can make notes while fishing a certain area that I might want to come back to. Really what you can do is limited to your imagination and if you screw up it's cheaper that having to fix your kayak.

Somewhat agree with the other reviewers, however having hooked a hammerhead shark, a couple of 15kg tuna, and a spanish mackerel, I can say that it is strong enough to handle decent size fish. The problems are the price for a lump of plastic and a couple of screws and the limited mounting points for the mariner 12.5 - overall, its just a poorly designed mounting solution. Nativewatercraft need to look at this overall for the Mariner 12.5 and come up with something more flexible

Review:
I trolled with a light action 7 ft rod, 15lb test line mounted on a Scotty rod holder. The plate wobbles on its mounts. Maybe this is intentional, to absorb the shock of snags or big strikes, but it looks like I've got too much weight for it. I have it as far inboard as possible. This may be better suited for fly/ultra light tackle or a mount for GPS. Also, it is too expensive for what you get, a plastic plate, 2 wing nuts and spacers.

Review:
This product is overpriced for what it includes. I mounted it in a Mariner 12.5. It only fits in two spots on the port side. I attached a Scotty rod holder to it and trolled with a medium 7 ft rod. I do not feel confident that this plate will remain intact if a big fish strikes. It wobbles on the gunnel. It might be suitable for light tackle or mounting a fish finder. Not worth the money.
