Somewhat agree with the other
reviewers, however having
hooked a hammerhead shark, a
couple of 15kg tuna, and a
spanish mackerel, I can say
that it is strong enough to
handle decent size fish. The
problems are the price for a
lump of plastic and a couple
of screws and the limited
mounting points for the
mariner 12.5 - overall, its
just a poorly designed
mounting solution.
Nativewatercraft need to look
at this overall for the
Mariner 12.5 and come up with
something more flexible

I trolled with a light action 7
ft rod, 15lb test line mounted on
a
Scotty rod holder. The plate
wobbles on its mounts. Maybe
this
is intentional, to absorb the
shock of snags or big strikes,
but it
looks like I've got too much
weight for it. I have it as far
inboard
as possible.
This may be better suited for
fly/ultra light tackle or a mount
for
GPS.
Also, it is too expensive for
what you get, a plastic plate, 2
wing
nuts and spacers.

This product is overpriced for
what it includes. I mounted
it in a
Mariner 12.5. It only fits in
two spots on the port side. I
attached a
Scotty rod holder to it and
trolled with a medium 7 ft
rod. I do not
feel confident that this plate
will remain intact if a big
fish strikes.
It wobbles on the gunnel. It
might be suitable for light
tackle or
mounting a fish finder. Not
worth the money.
