really know I needed such a

Alaska
and Brazil without a leash.
But it came in the tarpon 100
and so
on the kayak it went.
Certainly gives one peace of
mind not
having to be concern about the
whereabouts of your paddle at
every moment. Works great.

Luckily, I haven't dropped my
paddle in the water yet....yet
being the operative word. I
fish from my kayak, and I can
see how easy it might be
especially when distracted
with having a big fish on or
trying to get my lure unstuck
or line untangled. This
particular leash seems very
well constructed, nice velcro
tightener to keep it on the
paddle handle right where you
put it, with a heavy loop to
attach to the kayak. The
bungee style makes it as long
as needed without being in the
way.

Works as it should. Strong, high quality materials. I have 3. Ended up not using them at all.
Why? The are a little bulky. No quick release. If they get wet (and they will) will become heavy and gets in your way. That is my problem, they are a little too much for what they are.
I bought 2 other from somewhere else for ten bucks that have a quick release on both ends, are a little shorter (but long enough) and are much lighter in weight even after they get wet. I would not recommend then because there are better options. My wife has the same opinion.

Well though out design and crafted with exceptional materials. The Velcro closure on the oar end fits my Werner Rio paddle(standard shaft) snugly. The bungee loop has more than enough room to slide over my paddle blades and secures easily to the lash brackets on my boat. Very cool product and I would recommend this to any new/experienced paddler.

Purchased 3 paddle leashes as a Christmas present. Living in New Jersey it's still to cold to use but I can see from inspecting the product upon arrival that it is sturdy and will do the job. The kids won't be floating along with a paddle floating in the other direction. After doing a little research before committing to buy, I found that Austin Canoe & Kayak had the most reasonable prices and the shipping was so very fast even with the crowded postal system during the busy holiday season! I added this site to my favorites because I will be shopping again soon.

A must-have item for a sea kayak. In the wind you can lose your paddle in a hurry without one. Very sturdy. My one complaint is that it has no quick way to connect to the paddle or boat. Must thread the length through the boat and leash eye, then take the two-piece paddle apart to fasten leash. At least one end (preferably the boat end )should have a quicker attachment.

I bought this to be a kayak leash, not a paddle leash. I mostly surf w/ a SOT kayak. The leash worked perfect. I fall off, I hold on to paddle, kayak doesn't go all the way to the beach. Well made, and survived me falling off of 6' waves last week. I would buy again. For 12 bucks, I'll buy it again even if it does break.

Think of it as an umbilical cord---for your paddle! I prefer this nylon-clothed bungee over other plastic coated cables I've used. And you can use it to make a wicked sling-shot if you ever get stranded like that Tom Cruise guy in Castaway. WILSON!!!!!!!!!

This leash works fine for me. It is the only one I have used, so I have little basis for comparison. But I looked at several different designs before selecting this one.
I wish it had velcro on the boat end. I have to thread it through itself to fasten it to the kayak, then velcro it to the paddle. If there were velcro on both ends, it would be more convenient to hook it up.
Warning to fishermen who have not used a leash before: sometimes when I have the rod in my lap and pick up the paddle, the leash will attempt to throw the rod overboard! Guess I need a leash for the rod too.

I've had to look around to find these! They are just what I've wanted. We've a leash in the same style. It has performed well over very many years of solo kayak use and still looks new. Any
time you want to, just toss the paddle aside or, if walking the boat in shallows just grab the leash/paddle and pull it around. You don't know the conveniences until you've tried. Austin's
example is the equal of our discontinued model and VERY reasonably priced. It has a friendly feel in the hand; is easy on the boat and your body. There is real strength in it for whatever
it might be called upon to do. Dry it out before putting it away.

Bungee Paddle Leash is a great bang for your buck. You only need to lose your paddle once to appreciate having the leash. It's especially valuable if you paddle alone. I can't think of any reason NOT to have a leash.

Don't waste your money on less expensive leashes - this one is the bomb! I tested it in the Gulf, surfing my Ripper, which I continuously became detatched from - I held onto the paddle, and with the other end of the leash looped through the eyelet on the bow, when I came spluttering up to the surface, my boat was right there, pointing into the next breaker, waiting for me to climb back on. Those waves put a real strain on these bungies, and no probs!

Great product! The materials and workmanship are high quality, and it does the job it's meant to do. The only drawback was trying to figure out how to work the loop that attaches to the paddle. Once I got that figured out, it held the paddle securely.
