Something Unexpected Occurred...

I had made a homemade furler to use on my revo 11 but was not pleased with how it worked. This furler is well worth the money if you plan on doing any sailing. If you install on a revo 11 you can't follow the instructions exactly. See the hobie site for more info...
The furler does the job. Easy to install. Mine came with a ball turned in
the wrong direction. I have noticed others with the same complaint. It
still works though.
I installed the furler kit today and overall it was an easy install except
the rear pad eye. I followed Hobie's instruction to the letter, but this
kit is just shy of being a universal fit. I have a2009 Revo and the
location for the rear pad eye for the bungee was just in front of the
built in rod holder. I had to lay in the driveway with a 3/8 open end
wrench and contort myself to reach the nuts for tightening.
Another issue, which was already mentioned is one of the plastic balls
used for unfurling was facing in the wrong direction. I will try to come
back to the review pages once I get a resolution from Hobie.
I will say even with the hicups I have mentioned the furler appears to
be good quality and well engineered. It is going to make sailing even
more fun with my Hobie Revolution.
Components and ease of use super. I cannot
understand why, when one of the furler balls was
discovered to be facing the wrong direction and on the
wrong side of the knot, why Hobie didn't notify
distributers of the flaw and fix that was mentioned on
the forum. Some inconsistent QC and communication.
Finely Got out on the lake
yesterday to use the furling
for the first time. It worked
great. Installation was easy, I
did put a light coat of plumbers
silicon on the end of the mask
so it would turn easier.
Something I has been thinking
of building until Hobie came out
with this item.
easy to install and seems to work
fine in the garage, hope to give a
true test when the ice melts off
Another quality product from
Hobie. Simplifies furling the
sail on the kayaks. A must
needed accessory finally
Do check the fairlead location
before drilling to make sure
your pedals do not hit the lines
coming from the mast while
pedaling. Great installation
