I just tried my new Hobie Trax 2-30 Kayak
Cart this past weekend. It worked great with
my Hobie Pro Angler 12 and I'm pleased to
say Hobie can hold their head up high on this
cart. It's extremely durable and easy to insert
and remove from my Hobie Kayak. Thanks
Austin Kayak .....
I got this cart to use with my Outback but haven't
actually used it in the sand yet. I would be very
surprised if it doesn't work flawlessly though. The tires
are huge, and significantly larger than the Trax 2
model. As with any cart designed for loose sand, an
empty yak pulls a lot better than a loaded yak, but
these tires should have the surface area to handle
plenty of equipment, especially on the lighter yaks.
The build quality of this cart is more sturdy than my
other Hobie Heavy Duty model, with slightly more
significant welding on the frame. The wheels come off
with snap and require no retainer pin. The cart is big
though, and heavy. The cart also includes a set of
spacers made from electrical conduit pipe that can be
slipped over the scupper posts prior to installing the
collar clamps in order to raise the clamps to the right
height for use with a Pro Angler eliminating any wheel
rub on the hull. These spacers, by the way, would be a
great DIY fix for the common problem these collars
have (on most of the other Hobie models) of slipping
down the posts under the weight of a loaded kayak.
