I looked at this mount for six months, and kept gettin chased away by the price. Finally priced out the components individually to build my own, and ordered it immediately! Shipped quickly and is an extremely attractive, well built mount. Installs in minutes in my extreme 12. Have not used it yet as I have not splashed my kayaks, but spring is here and I look forward to using it for "silent running" as I sneak up on wildlife to shoot with my dslr. Only one "con". Hardware seems to be galvanized metal, subject to corrosion in my brackish water environment. For the money, stainless steel would be more appropriate. Would recommend it to anyone with a need to mount a trolling motor to their yak.

I used this mount on my ultimate 12 all summer of 08 and found it worked extremely well. It is very easy to install and fits behind the seat nicely. It seems very rugged and it has never loosened or shifted once tightened in place. I use a minnkota 40 thrust and the motor mounts fit with plenty of room. The amount of bracket overhang from the side of the ultimate put the throttle handle in a good position for comfortable left hand control. I did notice that due to the positioning of the mount on the boat does make for a rather awkward control when trying to turn when moving in reverse but with practice it becomes workable but not great. I cut 7 inches off the minnkota shaft so the prop would sit higher in the water for low water conditions. This allows me not to reach above shoulder height when holding the control handle. If for some reason I was to lose the motor mount due to whatever I would buy a new one right away. I highly recommend this product for the Ultimate 12 as I have never used it on any other size ultimate.
