Description: The Seals Kayak Cockpit Seal is a tear-resistant cockpit cover made with cargo cover material that features superior UV protection that provides more secure protection that the basic Seals Cockpit Cover. The hull strap security feature makes this cockpit cover suitable for use during kayak transport on your vehicle as it wraps around the hull of your kayak to secure the cover during transportation. Review: The product is what I needed, and performed flawlessly on a recent 2000 mile road trip. I can see that I will need to make a couple of minor modifications ( the front hook is plastic and will need to be replaced before I go out again) but it is what I wanted and I gained at least 2 mpg.

Review: I have 4 kayaks and have standardized on these. They are tough! They do not shred from wind while truck- topped, and critters have not figured them out yet, and there is no annoying stitching for a puddle of water to drip through. BTW to avoid those puddles, simply stretch a short bungee across the cockpit side to side before securing cockpit cover.

Review: Cockpit Seal stood up to Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee! Was unable to remove kayaks from the top of my truck in time for either of these storms. Despite the driving rains from both storms, when I finally did get my kayaks down only about 2 cups of water managed to be wind driven under the SEALS Cockpit Seal. One of the best investments I have made for our Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 kayaks.

Review: I have been lucky enough to move to an apartment complex on the banks of a Florida river with provisions to store my P&H sea kayak twenty paces from the water's edge. My storage area is under a clubhouse, which is good protection, but still outdoors. I was greatly concerned about unwanted paddling companions, especially since I launch in the dark every day half an hour before sunrise. The Seals Kayak Cockpit Seal has worked perfectly. No stowaways! I strongly recommend this device for any outdoor storage.

Review: This is a great cover for my Tsunami 145. We have the standard version for one of our boats also, and I like this version better because of the grip material on the rand. It is easier to put on, especially if the kayak is a bit wet when heading home. It worked great on a 200+ mile drive. Cost, shipping and service from ACK were great.

Review: Ordered a #7 for my WS Pungo 120 - it covers the opening but is a bit wide so it sags down and collects water if raining. I will need to build a support underneath to hold it up.
 
ACK Reply: Most kayaks should be stored on their side or upside down to maintain their shape and hull integrity, if stored this way the cockpit covers or cockpit seals will have less a chance of collecting water.

Review: The two kayak cockpit covers I ordered arrived promptly via USPS priority mail. They were much easier to put on my large Pungo 120 cockpits than the covers I had previously. They also appear more durable. I also like the clip at the front and strap around the middle. I haven't taken them on the road yet, but I expect them to do just fine.

Review: One con is that this product bought thru ack does not have the size printed anywhere on the seal. This seal thru any other retailer has the size printed on the top. This is a problem for paddlers w/ multiples boats of differing sizes. Otherwise, great product.

Review: I store my kayak outside and purchased the cover to keep spiders out between uses and it has been effective. The cover goes on easy if you cover both sides at one end at the same time then work your way down to the other end. I have not used the strap yet for securing cover when on car top. Review: I bought two covers for two different boats. while they do keep water out, if there is a heavy storm the water pools on the center and may eventually leak in. when I asked there was only the suggestion to use a beach ball to keep them up. Review: Fits very well and stays on. Takes a couple of tries to learn the best technique to put it on. I've found that it is easiest to lay the kayak flat on the ground, and straddle it. Hook the cover around the lip behind the seat first, and then pull the front end of the cover toward the front and hook it under the front lip. Hold the front down with one hand, and use the other hand to wrap the sides of the cover around the lip, one side at a time, from back to front.

Review: This is a great cover except for one thing. Since it did not initially fit over the opening of my Perception Prodigy, I loosened the bungee cord that goes around the cover to keep it elastic. (there is an opening where they are attached to each other with a plastic tube. ) There is no way to prevent the ends of the cord from going into the hem of the cover. So now, I have to try to threat them back to the opening. There should be instructions and there should be a knob or some kind of fastening to allow temporary loosening of the cover until it has stretched sufficiently. Then one can tighten the cord again.

Review: The Seals Kayak Cockpit Seal is pretty much as expected. Seems to be well made and it has kept rain out. It's easy to remove. The main issue is that it's not easy for one person to put on, at least for our Old Town Adventurer kayak. The front of the cover hooks onto the kayak bungee cords. After that, it feels like three hands would be helpful.There's no other place to hook it, so I hold one side with each hand, gradually moving back, keeping tension, scooting on my knees on the dock while bending over. The kayak is floating and wants to move back with the pulling hands. This is uncomfortable. Eventually I get around to the back end, pulling against considerable tension in the bungee cord, and snap the back on. This is the best procedure I've worked out so far, but the cord sometimes still snaps out of the coaming and I have to start over. I'd guess this is not a problem peculiar to this brand and model, but inherent in the hatch configuration. It would be much easier to have 1 or 2 more hooks to attach to, but they would then be in the way while paddling and each would be another hole in the boat. We haven't tried to transport the kayak since getting the cover, so can't comment on how well it stays on.

Review: I've stored the kayaks with the covers on and had them on my racks on my truck. They are heavy duty and attach well to my kayaks. We got a lot of rain that puddled up in the cover. The water didn't come in nor did the cover pull off. I'm very impressed with quality and would buy them again as well as recommend them to a friend.

Review: Keeps bugs and other pests out of my kayak in storage. I keep it right on my van and no water has got in it yet, it hasn't faded from sunlight, this is the best choice for a cover, goes on quick and easy, i give it 5 stars and recommend this cover above all others.

Review: Did what it's supposed to. Fit the cockpit. Kept the water and debris out when car topping. Also lets me pack misc. items in the boat. Love the extra security of the center strap that wraps around the boat. Also the clip on the one end to attach it to the deck cord. You will not lose this cover.

Review: Nice fit... stays on during transportation on the top of my SUV. Reduces the howling wind noise by a good margin and therefore drag on my vehicle and gas mileage should be slightly better. Keeps bugs out of it during storage as well. The trick to this is it's air tight unlike some of the others. This is what I wanted so that it would reduce drag while transporting it... BUT... it also means I have to wait a couple days after hanging my kayak up before putting the seal on or I will mildew the inside of my yak by trapping the moisture in. There are other products you could put on ASAP to just keep bugs out and let the yak breathe a little more so keep that in mind if you need something you put on as soon as you get home.
