The Starport fit of the Telepole is great - secure and easy to
attach/detach. Two downsides to the design of the Telepole are: 1. The
telescoping pole locks by turning the inner tube rather than twisting
the circumferential grip. The effect of this is that it is difficult to align a
camera. One has to judge where the camera will face once the pole is
tightened. Granted, this can be somewhat remedied by rotating the
pole in the Starport but doesn't give very fine control. Another remedy
is to rotate the female Starport in the upper tube to align the camera.
However, this is also problem number 2. The upper female Starport
attachment can slide out of the tube. I would like to see the telescopic
pole tightened with a circumferential grip at the midway point and the
female Starport more securely attached to the upper pole. There are
lanyard attachments at both ends which can be used to prevent
accidental loss of either end of the assembly.
I use my Telepole for one of my GoPros with the platform and
extender. It will sway a decent amount with any moving water, but
still allows for awesome overhead video for kayaking. Use a leash as
a backup....those overhanging trees can grab it and knock stuff off.
Have not snapped it yet, must be
