Works very well. Had a kayak with a partial rudder system in place. This made the completion perfect. I like the spring loaded rudder system because it will lift without any damage if you hit something. When lifted the rudder is vertical not flipped all the way over back to the kayak. I actually like this since it leaves the back more open for putting gear.

Review:

The Smart track is definitely an improvement over my old system. The foot rests are more comfortable. The lever system for rudder adjustment allows for tiny toe movements and the blade itself responds quicker and more quietly in the water. Finally, the spring system keeps the blade in the water even if the paddler runs over something like kelp. Pulling the rudder up or dropping it are easy and faster. Great system. My only concern is that the plastic rudder might be more fragile than my old aluminum rudder.
