Pros: solidly built, tows beautifully, easy to assemble, good instructions, sure beats lifting my kayak on top of my minivan. Cons: expensive, incandescent lights instead of LEDs, wiring is unprotected (recommend spiral wrap or something similar; there are a lot of sharp edges), instructions should have a section for those who buy the retractable tongue kit at the same time (not too hard to figure out though), U-bolts aren't very elegant (but they do the job). Other: took the trailer on an 800+-mile round-trip fishing trip and had absolutely no problems with it at speeds up to 70mph (normal cruise was 65). After the trip I noticed some wheel bearing grease splattered on the inside of the rims; hopefully this isn't indicative of a problem with the bearing seals. Recently I built a deck for it out of 1/2" plywood and bolted a 48-gallon Rubbermaid Action Packer on top to hold my gear.
The little trailer is perfect for me.!! I am a 55 yr old women with some knee and neck issues and loading my kayak onto the roof of my Ford Escape was a challenge. Assembly was done by my husband and son. It took about 5 hrs to complete. They had all the right tools in their shop which made it easier. The directions sent with the trailer where great, follow them!! I could lift it and move it around pretty easy but to save my back I did buy a swivel jack with a wheel and installed it on the tongue. I had 2 more J-cradles and put them on so I could haul 3 to 4 kayaks. I have not hauled more than 2 kayaks yet but do not fore see any problems. The tie down straps that came with it work great. My Escape is only a 4 cl engine but has no problems pulling this trailer. It pulled nicely behind the car with no swaying; I never go over 60 miles an hour. I have driven long horse trailers before and can back one good so I had no problem backing this trailer. The long tongue put it far enough back behind the car that I could easily see the trailer. Within a few days after I received the trailer kit I receive the manufacturer’s certificate in the mail. There was no problem getting the tag and title for it. I live in NC. I can’t say enough good things about this trailer. I guess I could have bought a utility trailer and rigged it up for a kayak hauling but this trailer is just perfect. I love it!!!! I have recommended to all my kayak women friends. I would have attached pictures but didn't see that option on this review page. American made too!!! Thanks Malone!!
