Forget hassling with block foam, sandpaper and glue to customize whitewater or sea kayaks. Simply peel the backing off the Surf to Summit Hot Seat Grande and it permanently secures in the cockpit. In addition to superior comfort and support, the seat also encourages a slightly forward posture to help the paddler better engage and utilize a thigh brace. Made from sturdy thermal-molded foam, it's available in three styles: Grande (Gray) made wider and longer to accommodate larger paddlers; Spicy (Black) made a bit firmer for handling serious whitewater; Mild (Blue) made softer for calm water touring.

I wasn't expecting this to turn my kayak into a Tempurpedic. About six months ago I peeled off the back and installed this into my sea kayak. It's been very comfortable ever since. I have put hundreds of miles on that kayak since. Now I have a second sea kayak and am purchasing another one for the new boat. Top notch. I also use the other Surf to Summit GTS seats on my fishing kayak.
I was a little disappointed. The seat was harder and less comfortable than I had hoped for. I was expecting memory foam/gel consistency and the seat itself is fairly hard except for the outside edge. I kept it to give it a try, but I would not have bought it in a store had I handled it before purchase.
Hot set grande it sure is! I am in my kayak for 5 to 6 hrs and the seat hurts my tail bone. I added the grande seat and I am comfortable for the whole time I am out. It's one great addition. It doesn'the raise you that high to effect center of gravity.
Bought this seat about 5 years ago- the Grande edition. Installed it per directions in a CD Solstice GT and went up and did the MR 340. Loved it! I've since done several other long races with it and the seat is still in great shape and comfortable as when it was new. Highlly recommended. It's like riding in a Cadillac.
