The Hobie Mirage Drive has twin underwater flippers that propel you with surprising speed. The pedal-drive system on the Hobie Mirage kayaks makes it a great choice for anglers, photographers and anyone who would like their hands free while in their kayak. Features Turbo Fins and new neoprene foot pads and self centering pedals.
Great customer service with one minor (product) problem. I got it pretty quick after I ordered. I decided to go fishing and did not put it in my outback till I got to the water and it didn't fit. There were two tabs on the bottom below the metal lock pins that wouldn't fit in the hole. I returned home and called ACK and they inturn called Hobie. Hobie said that this was a new design and the tabs needed to be cut off and it wouldn't void my warranty. Now they work great. Thanks to ACK for great customer support. I will use them again for all my yak needs. Product desc. should probably let people know about the tabs.
$567 pedal assembly contrary to statements, will not fit a early Hobie Mirage with out modification. I was fortunate to contact a Hobie dealer that talked to Hobie and determined how it needed to be modified.
Worked great. Doubles your speed with same expenditure of energy.
Wow! Even better than I thought. Installed it in a little 12 ft. homebuilt wooden kayak (with some help from Duckworks magazine). I am somewhat athletic so when I poured on the power to the turbo drive, the little boat fairly flew. An added benefit is that the drive provided added stability to a somewhat tender hull. I give it 5 stars. I recommend you advertise it in periodicals and web sites that deal with home built boats.
