Immersion Research Thickskin Union Suit 

I have used the Immersion Research Thickskin Union Suit on 4 kayaking trips over the past 10 days. Each trip ranged in temperature from about 32 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The product works as described . Getting into the suit through the neck is somewhat awkward at first but you get used to it. Washing instructions for the suit were clear. I have noticed that the Large size fits a little loose. I am about 5’11 and 195 lbs and according to the sizing chart I should be a large. This could however be intended. PROs: The obvious PRO for a product like this is that it keeps you warm. It does so without the need for excessive layering. Wearing this suit with fishing pants, a fishing shirt, a fleece pullover, and some rain gear I was able to stay warm at freezing temperatures. An unexpected PRO was the comfort of this particular suit. I have noticed that many modern base layers fit particularly tight and can become uncomfortable for extended wear. This suit stayed comfortable for my entire overnight fishing trip, and I even slept in it comfortably when I got home because I was too tired to bother changing. CONs: There isn’t too much negative I can say about this product. The fit is loose as stated above, and you do need to wear a size larger pants than you would normally wear due to the extra “padding” the suit provides. These are to be expected for a product like this. This product also does not appear to be waterproof. It is not advertised as such, but if you are in the type of boat that tends to get very wet you may want to ensure you have plenty of waterproof gear on over this suit. Rating: I would give this product 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. Taking a half a point off for fit. I feel it could fit a little tighter and still be comfortable.

Review:	Haven't tried it on the yak just yet, but appears perfect for what I need to go underneath my IR Double D Drysuit. I just need to have the length hemmed slightly due to my short inseam, and may in fact have elastic stirrups sewn in so as not to bunch up when I put the drysuit on. Super warm and comfortable.
