I could not be happier with the product or Austin Kayak. It was here in Florida two days after I ordered it. As a dry box it does what it was intended to do. I bought it primarily as a cooler for fishing from a kayak. After eight hours in the Florida heat and sun very little of the ice is melted. This is not the equivalent of a high end roto molded cooler but it doesn't carry a $300 price tag either. This cooler/dry box fills a roll and it would be hard to find another product that does it as well for the same or less money.
This box is well made for a dry storage box as it has a good seal and keeps out dust and water. The problem is I bought this to use as a cooler and it is worthless at keeping ice. A full cooler of ice with pre-cooled drinks will not last 12 hours before the ice has totally melted. I doubt it will keep ice 4 hours during the summer. Just a bummer because it would have been an excellent cooler if the insulation wasn't so thin. No complaints about ACK. Good to deal with and fast shipping.
I ordered 4 of these coolers, 2 original, and all four came to my house from ACK broken. Three of them looked as if they were smashed with a sledgehammer....also, my other items were missing parts or not shipped at all, quality control at ACK is horrible. I bought a Pelican cooler and it is awesome.
I bought two of these to use for camping because I did not want to lift a heavy large cooler. I'm also a kayaker so I can use one strapped to the back of my touring kayak should I decide to go that route. I just got back from a four-day jamboree on the Arizona rim. I iced the coolers with some crushed ice and lauded a row of frozen single water bottles across the bottom. The ice was still solid on the fourth day. Temperatures reached 85 in the day... so I am very happy with these coolers. There is almost no cleaning required as the surfaces are slick and seem to repel any kind of dirt or water. I would definitely recommend these!!
