By narrowing the shape and slightly lowering the seats they have developed a model that paddles better than most recreational canoes on the market. I have been looking for a new canoe for my family that would provide better stability than our current boat. My search ended when I discovered the new Old Town Saranac 146. It’s more streamline than most canoes in its class and paddling it is so much easier than our old aluminum canoe. My favorite part is the middle seat that has built in storage where my son can sit. Originally my wife and I use to plop him in the middle on the floor of the canoe, but anytime he moved, he threw us off balance. Now with my son in the middle seat, the boat feels more stable and the weight distribution is just right.
