The Native Universal Non-Skid Footwell Pad is a self adhesive pad that fits perfectly into the tunnel hull of the Native Ultimate series of kayaks to provide comfort and traction while standing. Even though it is made with the Native Ultimate kayaks in mind, the Native Universal Non-Skid Footwell Pad can also be used in other boats as well.
When I saw this product it made me mad it was so expensive. It's a piece of foam, right? I was determined to DIY this concept and purchased the item to check it out and hopefully return (sorry, ACK). But when I rec'd it was when I realized it wouldn't be returned. There is a lot of technology here, stress pad stuff that I research on my own. It's not real cushiony to the point that you sink into it, but the smart technology behind it keeps you feeling zero pain or discomfort! It surprises me Native does not discuss this technology up front, like other companies do for their pads that they sell for workers who may stand in front of a machine all day or something like that. Anyway, make the purchase. Folding them longways when installing will help you get them where they need to be in the footwell depression...
These pads fit perfectly. The adhesive is aggressive and holds great. Actually I installed these in 40 degree weather in Boston, and even over the winter, the adhesive has held perfectly. The cost is a little high, but the pads really do the job and are very comfortable.
