The Aqua-Bound Sting Ray and Manta Ray have a 4 piece breakdown fiberglass shaft that offers a lighter paddle than aluminum versions. The fiberglass has a nice flex and feel in the water as well as being warmer on your hands on a cold day. Available in two blade shapes, Manta Ray for high-angle paddlers and Sting Ray for low angle paddlers. Perfect for travel, inflatable kayaks and adventure racers.
|Blade Shape:||Manta Ray 7.25" x 18" or Sting Ray 6.25" x 18"|
I used the four piece paddle in four adventure races this year including Untamed New England and recreationally. I was very pleased with the weight and performance of the paddle for the price. The paddle stores in my racing pack easily and held up while digging in shallow streams.
I haven't gotten to use this paddle yet, but I am trying to pack it, and the packable length is 31" not the 27" described in the product description - at least not if you want to pack all 4 parts...
I needed a paddle in a hurry that would be easy to take on a plane with me and this one was recommended to me by ACK. I absolutely loved it! The only drawback is trying to break it down after using it: I would recommend putting some WD-40 on the ends of it because it took 2 people to pull it apart when I needed to pack it up for my return trip. This paddle is extremely lightweight and a great price...I would definitely recommend it (with some WD-40!!)
This paddle was just what I was looking for. Compact, light weight and priced right. Unfortunately on the first trip the center connector came unglued. I have another AquaBound paddle, no problems in 6 years. As soon as this one is repaired/replaced I expect to get flawless service.
