| Review: | The compass works fine, the problem is with the size hole needed to mount it. You need to make a 2 1/16 hole. No problem you say? Just go to any hardware store and buy the right sized hole saw. NOPE! No retail store within 50 miles of where I live carries that size. The common size is 2 and 2 1/4. Eventually I bought a 2 and a curved file and went to work. The compass has a pretty nifty design on how to handle different thicknesses of mount locations. There a ring that screws onto the back of the compass made of nylon and has a stainless steel insert that can move up and down the cut threads of the ring. Adjust this SS insert so that it tightens against the compass body at the point the ring meets the mounting plate you drilled the hole in. There are contacts for a light inside. They are spade lugs. They come straight off the back. This makes it necessary to have a pretty deep mounting location if you choose to light things up. I would have preferred the spade blades came out the sides so the wires wouldnt need more depth than just the length of the compass. | ||||
