Austin Kayak - I live in NJ and my Ultimate 14.5 Angler Tandem was shipped to me the day I ordered. The shipping took 3 days. I'm 63 years old, and I had never been in a Kayak. The first day I took it out, I had a friend with me to show me the ropes since he'd been kayaking all his life. This boat is beautiful and well built! It is much more stable than any canoe I've been in. I got this boat basically for fishing and ghosting around the edges of the reservoirs. I've had numerous heart problem and this boat helps enormously with exercise. Austin Kayak seems far, but they are as close as a telephone. I've had numerous questions and they can answer any questions you have - instantly! Their people are excellent and know boats!!! Rich Reitz
Well.....it is a good boat for 1 person or 1.5 people. It is not so good for 2 grown men since you would be nearing maximum weight allowed in the boat. With 400lbs in the boat, all it takes is 3 good sized waves to sink it. I know because I tested it. Other than that, good boat. The rudder kit should not be optional, in my opinion. I installed it myself and it took all day long because the instructions were really poor.
Well I've never written a review yet but it's been almost 2 years now and love it. It's the only one I've owned so I cannot compare to others but it works perfect for me. I can stand and fish without issue and the seat is way comfortable. If you're on the ropes about what to get you will not be disappointed. Here is a pic of me and my yak, I really couldn't be happier! http://img17.imageshack.us/im g17/381/k304.jpg
The best kayak for standing and casting to anything. I can bowfish, flyfish, throw a cast net, and you can take a friend along. Nothing better. Period.
