So there I was driving down the road with my kayak that I have only used 1 time, supposedly secured to the trailer, when at 70 mph it lifts off the trailer and skids down the road. Scotty rod holder still mounted and yakattack box left in. To my suprise nothing was broke. The scotty still intact and mounted. A little road rash on the side of the kayak but nothing that cant be buffed out! Otherwise this kayak is awesome! Yes, the depth finder is a little out of reach but attachments can be bought to lift the screen and bring it in closer without relocating it. The kayak is a little heavier but really....? its rated for 500 lbs. I can carry all my stuff plus most of my buddies stuff. The seat is adjustable forward and back to compansate for weight distribution. or if you plan appropriately you can move yourself closer to your depthfinder. Oh yeah, I am a novice to kayak fishing and I can stand up and fish! pretty sweet!
I bought this kayak about a month or so ago for fishing. The elevated Air Core seat is very comfortable but it weighs in at 15# by itself. The console makes mounting a transducer/battery and fish finder a snap and it's also removable as one piece and weighs in at some 10#. But without the seat and the sonar console this boat still comes in over 70#. For my purposes I will take the weight and hull design so I don't blow around on the water on a windy day. Other than the weight the only shortcoming I found is that mounting the typical 4.3" fish finder on top of the console left it out of my reach to control and hard to view so I am relocating it further back in the boat Construction is solid on this kayak. I put mine on a small landscaping trailer for transport but I am older and my SUV is very tall with 20" tires and I did not want to risk back injury lifting this one up on top. The low trailer really makes launching and retrieval a snap.
